Anywhoo........

"Klaus" is a CTF unit owned by the Performance Car Team - he's "European" meaning that he was built for markets within the European Union. There are many under-the-skin differences as well as some that aren't under the skin.....

From the outside, headlamp washers, specific side mirrors (really big!) with integral turn signals and running lights -- tow hook cutouts, and of course, a very different taillamp appearance. I know some were horrified when the pics of a yellow one appeared on the internet - but let me say that the appearance in person is much better (...isn't it always??) and I like it! (I came up behind him a week ago on an interstate - another member was driving him - and I was captivated by the difference that the taillamps and spoiler make......)

No OnStar.....

Radio is in different Hz -- and of course the Speedometer is in Kilometers --

He's an LS3 tuned for the european market (fuel) -- and of course, he's ALL CAMARO!!!

I'll only have him for a short period of time - but I'm very much looking forward to every mile!

Once a CTF car finishes its service life with GM, it gets sold to private owners. I think GM employees get first dibs if I'm not mistaken, or used to have a "tagging" system to mark company cars for purchase down the road.

Anyone who was in Oshawa and was paying close attention ACS Composite had their Camaro on display and it had the european front bumper on it. Headlight washers didn't really jump out (Joe has them functional) but the cutout for the towhook is what caught my eye.

Indeed, Thank You, Scott!! The tour, people, and vehicles were nothing short of AWESOME! A day and experience I will always remember.

Sorry if I missed it too. Why the departure of Thor?

let's just say that I have to consider family needs right now -- and we can never know what the future will hold.

It kills me to open the garage door and see the empty space - it really does. As I said in the initial post - I can't exactly tell you WHY or HOW 'Thor' spoke to me - but he did........some would say I need to be placed in a rubber room; others, who love their automobiles will understand my feelings and thoughts.

I suspect (also stated in the initial post) that a lot of this had to do with the 'rebirth' of this legend -

......and then there's the fact that YOU, our enthusiasts, named him.......

my favorite picture of him is my avatar -- I'll try to get a clearer picture and post it - but when you look at my face in that particular picture - and you look at the grille of Thor - it suggests a great 'camaraderie' - as a Camaro should to its owner....

(...dang it - why are my eyes leaking again???.....

Those taillights are just too much for me...

Having seen the car in the flesh at Geneva, I can seriously tell (as a European) that for me it was a "no go" option.

1st point of failure for me:
I can understand that the mirrors need to be bigger for EU legislation rights, and that there is the need for a side repeater, but as has been said, it could have been solved differentlly. I'm sure with a few adaptations the US mirror could have been made to have sufficient surface to comply, the side repeaters could have been integrated in the light in the front fender (we are not allowed to have sidelights on anyway during normal driving), or even by using LEDs on the side mirror.

2: the taillights...

I know certain EU countries don't allow red tail indicators, but the Germans for example have a very nice solution to keep the original setup: put orange LEDs inside the US taillight, which works a treat, and doesn't ruin the backend of the car. I've seen the LEDs very "up close", again at Geneva. Went to look like 5 times that day, both on and off, and no... it really doesn't work for me (and I'm sure for quite a few other Europeans too), the car's back is ruined.

The tail lights look great lit up! Not so great when they're not.

I'd love to have them if they were all red! Maybe not shaped like sunglasses either.

Still not liking the European version, and there's the added question of whether or not we'll ever see the ZL1 here (probably not). I think I'll be importing a ZL1 and making it street-legal while being as none-intrusive as possible.
