Sorry to hear that your car died, but I love your humor with the photos of where it died and the putting flowers at the spot where it crapped out on you.

One guys post said something about him sending you a check to help with the rebuild. Wouldn't that be an epic event if forum members all pitched in and helped you rebuild...GM won't take of you so your fellow C5 enthusists did. If you had $1 for every view of this thread youd already have the long-block bought and half the labor!

If it turns out to be a GM stock part weakness and they won't help, PM me your address, I'm in for $50 toward the C5 Catastrophic failure relief fund!

Once I get the puller I need, I think I'm going to find the answer.

Believe it or not, the crew from the Builders Buyers Oshawa Meet & Greet have started a relief fund on Facebook. Talk about good people!!!!! It's pretty amazing how strong the Camaro community runs.

Just like a company or business, you find out all you need to know by how they handle the problems. Anyone can give great service when things go right, but it's how you handle the problems that make good businesses.

I think same goes for people. You can learn a lot about someone by how they are in Crisis.

There is a fund set up... It's through paypal. PM user trm0002 for the address.

Mike has been very positive through this whole thing and I am curious to see the cam pin. I agree with Randy and mike that the sudden jolt when the output shaft snapped likely sheared or stressed the pin to yield but the torque from the nut probably held everything I place until he grabbed second at full bore in Oshawa. That's when the rotational force likely overcame the bolt torque and the results are shown above.

I suspect this is the case as well....but here's where it gets interesting..

GM replaced that transmission under warranty. If that defective transmission wiped out my engine....then what?

Know any good attorneys? It would be a hell of a fight I think. I'd say you'd have a good case but proving it... GM has deep pockets and lots of lawyers just sitting in wait.

Is there a link to help donate?

BTW, I have decided to have my motor forged this winter partly based on this thread. It's going to spend next winter in the shop instead of covered in my garage.

I'm really wanting to forge the engine as well because I'm keeping the car for a long time...just a BIG $$ mod to do!

But would GM do anything to cover damage to aftermarket parts even if caused by oe parts? (output shaft causing cam damage) don't think they would, would be interesting to see what a well versed lawyer might suggest. Ahem.
