L99 Cam, selecting???

How does one know what cam to get? Whats the best for the L99? My Dad wants to have a Cam put in his baby. He wants to go with the best one? I have no clue. He will get it threw IPS and have them install.. He does not have a SC or NOS.

So if he did get that cam what does he need to add to the cart??? He likes the idea of 80 rwhp.

Is it a pretty aggressive cam?
Would it ever work down the road with a vortech?
I know a local car that did the GT11 n/a, and got good gains and manners.

They offer the VVT3 cam kit (comes with everything) also gonna need a 3200 stall converter and trans cooler... It's a very aggressive cam but with proper tuning and the stall converter they say it has good road manners way to much cam to ever add a SC though.

We can help you no doubt. If you get some free time give us a call. We can give you a run down on options & realistic goals based off your mods & future plans.

I don't believe anyone else in the country is building max effort VVT & VVT/AFM camshafts for the L99. Typically the larger camshafts we offer add 100 flywheel (approx 80rwhp) horsepower.

Janetty Racing in CT and Livernois Motorsports in the Detroit, MI area are both good options that aren't too far away. They would be worth calling as well.

I love my Livernois 2c cam. I haven't compared it to others but is makes good power, drives well, and sounds awesome.

Will IPS do your tuning? The tune is a very important part of the cam. I have dealt with Texas Speed in the past and they were great working with. When I am ready for my cam TSP will be the vendor. You will need a number of items like valve springs, etc. Is this a daily driver? How will the car be used? You will need a stall. Do you have Long Tube headers already?

Good luck.

Bill
