Thinking to add Metra and Kenwood DNX9980HD

Thinking of upgrading the sound system on my camaro and have narrowed down to the Metra and Kenwood DNX9800HD. Are these all the parts I need to order to make use of Satellite, iphone, etc. ??

Metra 99-3010S Dash Kit for Chevrolet Camaro
Kenwood Excelon DNX9980HD Navigation Receiver
iPhone/iPod Cable KCA-iP302
Sirius SC-C1 Tuner
Kenwood SIRIUS Connect Interface KCA-SR50
Sirius Satellite connection Cable CA-SR20V
Reverse Camera CMOS-300
Metra Axxess ASWC Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface

Anyone do this install and have any comments or advise? Will I be able to use the XM antenna for the Sirius satellite?

Thanks for any input.

You don't need the ASWC. That function is built in to the 99-3010. You should be able to use the XM antenna - you will probably need to shave off a key rib on the SCC1 antenna connector.

Thanks CamaroGeek. Someone else confirmed I dont need the ASWC. I think I need the rest though. Anyone do the rib shave that has a pic of what to look for? Have you guys installed all this yourself or got pros to do it?

Looks like a solid setup, but why not wait til Alpine comes out with their dash kit. The user interface for the climate controls are all touch screen and the kit is supposed to be released this July. My installed quoted me that its only 50 bucks more and looks better too.

I have the metra and 9980HD HU and all you need is the following:
Metra 99-3010S Dash Kit for Chevrolet Camaro
Kenwood Excelon DNX9980HD Navigation Receiver
iPhone/iPod Cable KCA-iP302
Reverse Camera CMOS-300 (optional)- I'm using a Boyo camera instead...the COMS300 is too expensive.
You can't hook Sirius up to this HU as they don't have an interface yet

Thanks Kendell, really no satellite?? I did not see that and though you coudl add the tuner. :( If that is the case then that rules this out. Any other good Head Units with Garmin?

Thanks

When I ordered mine through Crutchfield they told me there was no interface available yet for the Sat. tuner To be 100% honest with you, I can't see paying for sat. radio when you have pandora internet radio on this HU + my iphone...its awesome. They did say the interface should be out in a few months. Any of the kenwood head units will use Garmin

Thanks Kendell347. Is Kenwood the only head unit authorized for Garmin?
That Alpine kit looks killer. I hope it comes out soon!

I have not used Pandora much. Are you saying you can pretty much get everything off Pandora that you can get off Sirius/XM?

Sorry for the delay CamaroFTW, I know Kenwood and Garmin go hand in hand for many years...so they must have an exclusive contract.

If you have never used Pandora, I'd suggest trying it. You can listen to Pandora on your desktop / laptop computer. I just cant see spending all that money on XM.

I HAVE INSTALLE THE METRA INTERFACE AND THE KENWOOD 9980HD BUT THE KENWOOD CAME WITH A SINGLE STANDARD MOTOROLA FEMALE CONNECTION AND THE ANTENNA LEAD ON MY CAMARO HAS TWO ANTENNA LEADS WHICH LOOK LIKE EUROPEAN TYE CONNECTORS (ONE YELLOW ONE BLACK). DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT I DO WITH THE SECOND CAMARO LEAD AND WHERE TO GET AN ANTENNA ADAPTER TO CONNECT THE HU TO THE CAMARO?

I looked at the CMOS-200 and CMOS-300. I thought the 300 video looked washed out, so I went with the 200.

You're gonna love the kit and the new functionality. I know I do!

Link to video of kit in my car: http://youtu.be/kFqA_EcxGJM

BTW, hold down the "snowflake" icon for 10 secs to get the trucker lady icon.
