That is what I based my opinion on. But you're probably right about the auto tranny cars.

I called my buddy again and leaned on him hard. He asked the owner again and he said he was told fall order and base price low to mid 40s. $45000 is a better bet.

Sorry but GM has not set the price yet so how could the owner possibly know? I know you are just repeating what you are being told but the OWNER is full of it!

They also told me the zl1 is getting a touch screen radio. I love the touch screen in my escalade. This may or may not be new news but I didnt know about the touch screen. That will be a nice added touch. No pun intended.

I mean this in the nicest possible way..... don't get your hopes up! This owner seems to have way to much "insider" information. I would not trust him but thats just my opinion.

yeah the touch screen may be a bit much... the zl1 that was released had just the reg radio that all the other ones have.

ok, I have been reading and thinking

my reasoning is, Al Op. (the main guy) said they will NOT BE RELEASING price until about a month before you can place the order. Delivery of the car is slated for the 1st quarter of 2012. This is the same thing that happened with the camaro when it came back in 09. When were we able to order? October.... So, when do you thinking pricing will be released....... September.... at the earliest.....

I HOPE this car starts at $43,000.... but as fbodfather said, you can order it at www. aintgoingtohappen .com

As far as a touch screen..... that is a possibility several of GM cars have them. You can get a nice one in the new loaded Cruz.

The ZL1 that I saw in person, was not a "real" ZL1..... I think Scott has made several comments and hints about how we will be shocked with this car.

Not to mention Al said they want to destroy the Mustang...... how are they going to do that with 560HP? not going to happen..

I agree with everything except for this part..... It would take a complete re-design of the entire center dash if not more to accomplish this. We know its not coming with the updated 2012 interior so I just dont see GM sinking all the R&D $ for one model. But I guess you never know! We are all just guessing anyway....

I ordered my ss in the early summer of 09 and picked it up on the lot in september 09 and paid the sticker price of $32505 & they are giving me $28500 trade in if I dont sell it private party. Car has 10k miles on it. Everything they told me ahead of time on the ss was true so I have some hope in what this guy is telling me.

If it becomes a hot car - GM will price it at the high end. Then need to make $$$$$. If I had to guess; it going to be $49K base and fully load with everything will be around $62K including the SRX wheels.

I hope that's correct, but dealers are going to mark it up a good $5K for sure.

I see you are from Southern Illinois, so am I. What dealership are you talking about? I'd love to swing by that dealership and get this in writing.

I really am starting to get a bit tired of the "dealers are going mark up the ZL1 X dollars" posts. Some dealers may, in fact, put a mark up on a ZL1 window sticker. However, no one needs to the pay any dealer mark up on a ZL1 in order to purchase a ZL1.

Chevrolet has indicated that the ZL1 will not be a limited production vehicle, and, therefore, there will be a plentiful supply of ZL1s for all who want to purchase one at MSRP.

As long as one is willing to have a little patience and is willing to perform a little diligence, there is no reason why anyone should pay any dealer mark up on a ZL1.

A dealer can "mark up" a ZL1 as much as it wants to mark it up, but that doesn't mean that anyone has to pay the dealer mark up on a ZL1. There are more than enough dealers who will be willing to sell the ZL1 at MSRP. The dealers that try to sell above MSRP will either not have any ZL1 orders placed or they will have spec vehicles sit un-purchased on their lots.

For example, all one has to do is look at the 2011 Indy 500 Pace Cars. There were only 500 2011 Indy Pace Cars produced, a truly limited number (unlike the unlimited ZL1), and those vehicles were readily available at MSRP.

So, can we please stop with the ZL1 dealer mark up posts?

$43K for the ZL1? No way. Upper 40s to 50 is more like it. No way the ZL1 comes in under the Corvette.
