These new units will be cut to the original specification.

I'm glad you did some investigation and that you found the source of the situation. This will surely get me and others more confident to purchase your product as soon as we fell that all issues are settled.

Thanks.

Just some FYI I have driven in the rain here in ATL with the VR since installed! after 20 miles of driving in the rain at 70-85mph no issues with water at all! I got home and took the filter out and even swung it to see if drops fly! NOTHING, filter and inner intake dry! I think this is the first real world drive in the rain for the VR huh?! Well hope more follow with good results. Later very nice day out time to VRROOOMMMMM with my Vararam!!

Same here, been through two monsoons here in Ohio. Couldn't even see to drive at times. Still completely dry.

I see the PM's but haven't responded since I am here at the GM Nationals and don't want to lose track of "unread PM's" . I will be back in Houston Tuesday and print out the PM's and respond at that time!
Thanks

Just from reading all these threads this complete product seems like a joke. Almost 100 pages of ordering and install issues. Needing to make cuts/alterations on original plastic parts to get it to fit instead of the compay providing all the parts needed (it is a $350+ kit). Sounds like more trouble than its worth especially since I really see few people talking about any extreme performance over a regular CAI that installs in 1/2 hour. And now you say yours is melting. And still no real Dynos or 1/4 mile times.

Anyone ever think of making a cold air scoop/ram air scoop that will force air up into your after market CAI box? I have a Roto Fab and see how I can simply rig a bendable spoon type scoop from just below the grill directly up into the Airbox for a direct intake flow. Just havnt had time to do it yet. Looks like a simple 45min project with no CAMARO cutting. Just need to fabricate the scoop and route it up to the crack in the Air box. No fuss no muss. Probably 10 or $15 in parts.

lol. There are several, its a night and day difference with this intake. I like how you focus on the negatives, and ignore all the positive comments from borecam and others since that post. This product was just released. Dyno's will come just be patient.

Only a handful of people actually have this product so far, and those that have installed it speak highly of the performance gains - even over the current favorite Injen. We should be seeing some independent dynos and track times within a week.

You are joking right?

You read almost 100 pages of this thread and you don't even have a horse in the race.

im pretty pissed off that my stock intake is back on for now after waiting all this long to get this intake, but I dont want to start giving peoples the wrong impressions that their intake will be melted like mine. Like some folks pointed out, I think this happened because I might of have overtighten the ring while the engine was hot, and I did use a socket wrench to get a better grip and gave it a hard twirl so the intake will stay lined up and dont move on me due to the fitment issue.

Im not saying this is not possible since it did happen to me, but for now I think this is an isolated incident, but regardless.. the VR folks already took care of the problem and is sending me out a new bottom part of the intake so problem is solved Great customer svc!

Thats not a true or constructive post. Most of the pages are showing you the prototyping of the product. There havent been any ordering issues. Theres a couple preorder lists. The fitment issue is tiny-and only on a few units apparently. It is also being immediately addressed and resolved by the manufacturer directly. You are modding your car-you cut off the exhaust to install an axle back for 1-4hp, you might have to cut a cheap (buy a spare set from dealer) pair of brackets for 25-30hp. Worth it in my book. Seen a preliminary dyno thanks to RolnSlo- I can feel the diff and wont give it back The first few out there are still having fun with it and reporting a true SOTP improvement. Even with cutting the brackets-if not for the minor fit issue -prolly 20min install total. Overzealous clamping potentially caused by the fitment issue may have been the problem with Bmore. I believe he stated so and also was complimentary towards VR support as am I. I will wait to give my final opinion for now-but so far I love this thing.

  • Fitment & quality control issues in this thread and the V8 threads
  • From the pics, I just don't see a smooth path for the air flow. It looks like it's gotta come through the grill, go almost straight up, hit the bottom of the hood and then go into the air filter.
  • Does that black collar around the filter really seal to the hood? It doesn't look like it. What's to stop all that hot air getting pulled in from the engine bay?
I wanna see some real world results before taking the plunge.

Yeh, I have been lurking here a long time looking for good news. The product looks flawed. No direct airflow. Looks more like a gimmick. I just can't see the little extra benefits if any being worth the time and money over a regular CAI. Not only that when you take it to a dealer for warranty work around the radiator I wouldn't be surprised if they come and say take the sh!t off before we work on it because I don't think the want to be bothered with such an alteration.
