Pics of Camaro racecars at Grandam events from Road America, Wisconsin

Here are the pics I took of the Continental Sports Car Challenge, Grand Am race, and Nascar Nationwide race this past weekend up at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Me, my wife and my 2 year old son drove our 2010 IOM Camaro RS to the event. Camaros were in the first two events and a Camaro paced all the races. The Stevenson Motorsports Camaro won the Continental Sports Car Challenge on Friday night and the Autohaus Motorsports Camaro nearly won it's class in the Grand Am race. It was leading on the last lap when it was passed by two cars that had enough fuel to finish at full throttle. The Camaro still came in third. The white Corvette won the race. The orange LRPG Camaro looks beautiful in the pics before the race but check out this video of the car crashing in turn one!

I'll post pics of all the Camaro first, in the order I took them, and then add the rest of the pics from the weekend. There was even a section of the track dedicated to spectator Camaro parking. While viewing these cars I spread the word about Camaro5.com to a few Camaro owners who didn't know about it. Hi to Bill and your son. Good luck in purchasing that ZL1 when it comes out. The pics with the clouds are from Friday practice/qualifying/Continental Sports Car Challenge evening race and the pics with the sun are from the Grand Am and Nascar Nationwide races on Saturday. Did you park in Camaro Scotty's Camaro coral? He was giving away Camaro t-shirts.
You took a picture of my Camaro, it was parked next to the red 97 Marlboro Camaro convertible. Mine was the VR one with cyber gray stripes.

That was a great time. Thanks again for the tix Scott. I see the American lemans is coming in august, I know the C6R team runs in that. Are there any camaros that run that series??

Camaro's don't race in ALMS.

Nope. I didn't know about it until I was walking around the track and the pits and spotted the coral. My car was parked all the way down at turn 5 and all my chairs, coolers, blankets, etc. were on the hill. I didn't want to move everything, so I just walked around and took pics of all the cars. I'll park there next year. Nice car!

Like Shockandawe said, only the factory backed Vettes run in the ALMS, no Camaros, but if you like old Camaro racecars, especially the original Penske Camaros and the like from the late 60's and early 70's then you need to come to the Kohler International Challenge with Brian Redman (July 14-17) which is the largest gathering of Vintage racecars in the country!!! https://www.roadamerica.com/Races/Ra...ion.asp?id=244
This year the Historic Trans Am group is coming to Road America for the first time. http://www.historictransam.com/home.htm This group consists of Camaros, Cudas, Challengers, Mustangs, Javelins, and Firebirds that actually raced in the original Trans Am series from 1966-1974. I can't wait!!!! I will be driving my 1971 Z28 RS up there for this one. If you go, don't miss the parade of racecars from the track to downtown Elkhart Lake for a show on the streets on Friday and a classic concours car show on Saturday, also on the streets of Elkhart Lake.
