thank you for showing me this article haven't read it yet, the best i saw prior was .93g, but i'll edit it to .95g! but yuo get my point until we know what a camaro can do there is noway to say the mustang is better! but i could live with the stang pulling more g's on the skid pad as long as i still have more than 100hp more i'm happy!

I thought they would compare like this: V6 mustang = Camaro LS
V6 premium = Camaro LT
Mustang GT = Camaro 1ss
GT premium = camaro 2ss.

Whether the "track pak" is factory or not for mustang, it is still swapping parts for performance parts. If i throw the exhaust, air intake, hurst shifter into the camaro, are those still stock parts? No, I swapped stock parts for those parts, even though they are from the factory.

That 100 HP will translate to less of an advantage given the 300+ more lbs the Camaro will have to carry. But it is still an advantage for the Camaro none the less.

I love the Camaro and will be buying one, however GM needs to expand its Camaro lineup to be similar to the Mustangs in price vs performance if it wants to survive...
Though I hate to admit it, but Ford has the formula down for a lot of what Supermans said above. They've been outselling Camaro for how long?... I completely agree with the GT' cars too; anyone knows I think this needs to happen, like a great deal of many others. But even if that doesn't happen, we have an absolutely GREAT car that's going to be a great jumping-off point for mods', so we aren't really loosing anything, IMVHO. I'm happy the premium is pretty small, considering what we're getting and just hope that many others recognize this is going to be a world-class car. Let's hope Camaro justifies itself quickly and we all get sick of seeing so many on the road

Either way the 2010 Camaro SS will be an outstanding performance value and should outperform a trackpak equipt 2010 Mustang GT. It won't be long until there are numerous reviews out there and then we'll see.
I can't believe the GT sticks as much as it does but considering what it gets from the last Shelby, it's not suprising. I can't WAIT until we finally start reading and watching head-to-head comparisons between the Big Three again. This may be the greatest automotive time of my generation - maybe the best so far (with all due respect ) It looks like I'll be visiting the grocery store everyday for the next six months collecting all the comparison/review articles, LOL!

I believe it is. If one can check it off a checklist (like selecting the "RS" package) then I consider it stock. If it comes strickly from a performance catalog (like the CAI) then it's not.

A car I can have for $31k that is still on par with a car that is $42k (GT500) sounds like a hell of a deal to me.
it's kinda hard to say the SS is on par with the new GT500 when there are no reviews/comparisons of either car.

I don't know how much 20 grand weighs, but I would guess 5 lbs, so instead of 400 lbs lighter my Roush will be only 395 lbs lighter so that guy better take the back seat out, the spar tire etc..... I'm glad the Camaro is back on the streets as the Challenger is no challenge, this will be fun for all.

I'm just hoping that I can find a SRT8 and and a SS one of each in red and white so I can get photo of the Big 3 cars in red white and blue as my Roush is blue here in Albq.

I disagree with this. The Mustang GT is indeed an enthusiast-type car. Does a car have to have 400+ horsepower to be considered an enthusiast car? If so, then every previous Camaro is not an enthusiast car (including the 3 that I owned).

Listen, I'll be right in line with the rest of you guys getting a 2010 Camaro, because it's going to be a better car than the Mustang GT. But until I actually get the Camaro, I still consider my Mustang to be an enthusiast's car, and when the Camaro exists, the Mustang is not suddenly going to cease being an enthusiast-type car.

ps - see my avatar? That's me. Does that look like a non-enthusiast car?
