Lightbulb Considering that the Racing Stripes are Vinyl...

Would it be best to treat them with something like Armor All to keep them clean and nice looking, or should I use the same stuff I would wax/polish the paint with?

I was wondering if maybe a Quick Detailer (of the many that are available) would also be a good choice as it probably wouldn't put that ashy white residue, on the stripes, like how I imagine a paste wax would.

I've been thinking about this a lot and my car is still very new, but the stripes are vinyl (not painted on) and I have been wondering if a vinyl care product would be better than one for paint. I would just have to be careful not to get it on the paint.

What have some of you been doing to keep the stripes clean, other than just regular washing?

I've been putting Adam's Buttery Wax on them: well protected and shiny as hell.

I have matte black stripes and I don't touch them with anything more than soap and water, and then quick detailer. Even with the detailer I'm pretty sparse on it considering the heat in central Texas.

That's pretty much what I've heard over and over, just wash them, no need to wax or seal them. They are disposable and are only expected to last a few years as it is, unlike the paint you can make last a lifetime.

Or just go and get stripes painted on and don't worry about the vinyl.

Thank you for all the tips, I'll see how they hold up.

To Pur3vil, I will definitely get them painted on in the event that they start to peel, bubble, turn ashy looking, etc..., but until then I want to see how long I can keep them looking nice.

Just wash it with normal car wash no special treatment needed.

Yup, agreed. Then I hit mine ewith either Z-6 (Zaino) or Adam's pink detailer. Just be careful with old-school paste as it will lodge and you're have to use a toothpick/q-tip to remove the product.

I second the turtle wax ice recommendation.

I like to use this picture cause it shows off how well the stripes reflect stuff compared to the paint.

Digging up an old thread here. But since these pictures were taken my car has been mostly garaged, with only an occasional California car duster pass. Well it rained the first day I drove it again, and afterward it still looked amazing. I love the ICE product.
