Rust may be a form of corrosion BUT it is not the only form. Something that is corrosive means it deteriorates metal, which rust does but corrosion of aluminum is NOT rust.

There is a big difference. Mac is right by his statement.

Rust is a laymen term for iron corrosion. Both correct.

What I like is at work they have the stainless steel cleaner.... I just love to point out that the counters aren't stainless steel..... they are rusting around the corners now lol. Not exactly stainless huh? Big difference between a 300 and 400 series stainless steel

All rust is corrosion, but all corrosion is not rust.

All corrosion is oxidation, but all oxidation is not corrosion.

Rust is iron oxide, or corrosion of ferrous metals. All corrosion is caused by oxidation (oxygen interaction with the metal). But your brown apple is a result of oxidation, too, but we do not call that corrosion.
