On the radio at the same exact time Rush Limbaugh was ranting about gas and oil and it was the cherry on top of the cake. Also I had just seen the south park Prius episode.
Amen, I am not a big south park person but that is a great episode. I think peoples perceptions are a bit off. I used to have a 06 honda s2000 and could get 22 mpg, my 07 vette gets 33 mpg easy. Many people assume the corvette must get bad mpg, there are always amazed when I tell them its my economy car.

Chevrolet needs to advertise their performance and muscle cars better. The media is anti American in so many ways that it has blinders on when it comes to the actual numbers. I heard people at work just today mention that the new Camaro probably gets poor gas mileage. I spoke up and informed them of the 29mpg on the V6 at 304hp and the 24mpg of the 426hp V8. They are also so misinformed that when they heard the SS has 426hp, bluetooth and USB capability, they said, "sure, for $50k!"

I then told them that the 450hp Corvette can get up to 29mpg on the highway and it has been proven. Unfortunately, the general public doesn't know this. The General needs to stop advertising the Malibu and then saying that they have more cars getting over 30mpg. They need to be more exact and say the Corvette gets X on the highway, the Camaro get X on the highway, the G8 gets X on the highway, etc. When people can put facts to a specific model, it will change their perception, regardless of the media!!

well in my opinion if you got that many people talking you down then you must be doing very well! there are a lot of people who just dont like when other people succeed. they arent justified in their statements due to the fact that they come from an ill-informed bunch of spiteful idiots. nobodys got a single negative thing to say about the challenger. and like you said they dont do their homework on a given subject; they just shoot off at the mouth about things they have no knowledge of. as far as im concerned, if people feel the need to voice their ignorant opinions in my direction, they will have to find their way through the tire smoke. God Bless America!!! srry bout the rant dudes. i get a bit irritated when i hear about stuff like that. but on a positive note, our local news had nothing but positive remarks for the camaro, v8 included! i didnt think much of it but im surprised after reading about your experiences. they made a comment about the v8 getting 25 mpg. id like to know what idiot they got that info from, as im sure we here at the forums would surely have known that before they had any clue.

Like I have said on this forum before, the Camaro is a great vehicle, but it has come along, IMHO, too late in the ponycar/musclecar game to be the media darling it should have been.

Like it or not, the mindset of the average American these days, and the media elite who like to create any drama they can with the consumer to drive ratings, sees any kind of performance-oriented vehicle as a vice.

They like to say because the Big 3 built cars like the Camaro, Mustang and Challenger instead of fuel-efficient, environmentally friendly cars, that they are in the financial state they are in today. We all know that is wrong, of course, but once American's at-large buy into such an idea, good luck in trying to get them to see the truth of the matter.

The Challenger didn't get any negative press because it didn't get ANY press. It's a rebodied Charger/Magnum. Nobody cares. The media seems to think the Camaro is important. I think that's good.

Well, yes and no. I'd expect to hear a bunch of negative stuff on other car forums because they are biased towards their own car. A lot of times that means it has done something right to get them to take notice of the car.

It would be great for the general press to come out and praise the Camaro for getting such impressive fuel economy in a performance car. It was confirmed yesterday that the SS automatic does get 25 mpg highway, when did you hear the report?

The media is bias, no doubt, but what is truely troubleing is that they don't bother to check their facts anymore. Mostly, all they "report" on, and I use that term loosley, is whatever they want their agenda to project. It used to be the media had to actually report on facts. That's not the case anymore.

GM started building this vehicle over 3 years ago. BEFORE the credit crunch, BEFORE the insane gas prices. The mustang was selling like hotcakes, why not build a competitor? Also, you can't really call 29mpgs bad timing.

Sounds like the media, as with many people, are fixated on the buzz phrase "muscle car", as in gas guzzler. If they pulled their heads out of their asses, they'd see this car gets better mileage than many mid sized sedans that used to be praised for their economy.

idiots.

Yeppers, there are a gazillion muscle cars out there which are solely responsible for destroying the environment. Sucking the lifeblood out of the fossil fuel reserves.

Yep, we drive the living heck out of them just so we can get our 20 MPG's during our 200 mile daily commutes.

What an unmitigated crock of crap. I am gonna stick my neck out here, so, it may result in my getting flamed. (NOMEX SUIT IS NOW ON!)

But, when I see some little tiny soccer Mom driving their monster SUV to the grocery store to get a Gallon of Milk. I start to lose my cool. Because that is the very same person who supports these "Hootie Headed Appliance Pushing Do-Gooders" to force all of us to drive a Whirlpool Refrigerator to Work! I want Almond or Copper Colored Please!

Does that get me worked up! Heck yes it does!!!! Maybe some of these self professed do-gooders oughta look at what the real problem is and encourage , something "Like Responsible Driving and Ownership!"

Learn how to drive responsibly!

AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let the class wars begin! Geez, that crap really sets me off!!

Time for my Blood PRessure Medication Now!!
