I've been dabbling on things like this for years.

an idea pops into my head and it nearly consumes me trying to figure out how to make it work. unfortunately, I dont have the time and money I need for serious R&D to implement my ideas. most things, its not thinking of a completely new part, or tool, or whatever, its repurposing existing designs or mixing and matching ideas to make things fit the need that I have for them

Like a big ball bearing instead of a conventional valve being raised and lowered by electromagnets instead of springs, pushrods, and cams?

I would say you need to get your ideas out there, but they'll get stolen. You need to connect with someone that can fund your projects, or even put them into production.

Dude, go the online route. Try to figure out something different that would appeal to people, use eBay or something I made so much money off of simple stuff.
