So.... 2002 Z28 SS Camaro 6-speed vs 2010 Mustang GT Track Pack 6-speed.... who would win through the 1/4 ?

I'm not 100% on this. In theory... I'm pretty sure the SS would win if it was a 2005ish. I know 2010 is quicker than those models. If I remember correctly it runs a 13.5ish. So the Mustang would probably win stock for stock 2002 vs 2010.

i think it would be a driver's race with the edge to the LS1

Not at all. That was a general statement not direct at you. My apologies if it was misinterpreted.

You say the Mustang isn't the be all end all, but sometimes you and a couple others come across like it is. I KNOW the Camaro isn't the best all around performing car in its class, and I can accept that. I just don't understand why you and other people feel the need to try to prove the 5.0's superiority on a Camaro site.

I don't want to argue over this because it's pointless and it proves nothing.
You are right. The best place to resolve these types of discussions is at the track. I get a bit over-enthusiastic at times and come across a bit harsh.

Oh My God!!!! I had an epiphany. I finally understand why Mustang people come on here an start stuff. It's like telephone tough guy.... they don't have to back up their mouths!!!! Wow, I feel so much better.

Here's the deal---
1. I love my Camaro
2. I love my 1965 Mustang
3. The SS and GT are so close that the DRIVER dictates who the winner is
4. The last time I checked, this site was CAMARO5.com, not CAMAROCHARGERSTANG5.com--there are forums that encompass all---go there, let us talk about our cars without having to appease the 4 year olds...
5. Stop taking this so seriously!!!!

You just joined the forum and have 20 something posts. And now you want to speak out for the whole community with your condescending posts. Dude, your ego is bigger than the state you reside in.

IIRC the track pack '10 GTs have 3.73 rears, and an extra 15hp and 10 ft-lbs over the 05-09s.

I'm going to give the edge to the SS, but it could really go either way. Like 60/40 in favor of the the older SS.

Welcome to Camaro5

Hopefully you will be buying the ZL1 or else you are in for a lot of expensive mods and a voided warranty because the Mustang is way more suited for track use just use like your 55 Belair is.

I would bet a set of 4.10 for M6 or 3.73s for an A6 in a camaro can pull it ahead of the mustang straight line. That is not to bad on the pocket book and will probably pull it ahead of the mustang if all else equal.

Haha I love it. Right. Its all about the same, stock vs stock and price of modding. I realize you are happy with your GT500... but the Mustang just isn't as high and mighty as you make it sound.

You don't need a zl1 to beat a mustang. Just because the 5.0 is decent doesn't mean all those 14.0 second GTs are off the road. The 5.0 isn't garbage by any means... but its pretty even overall

The mustang does come with tighter gears so it would help even it out
