The Mustang DOES look more like the older one, but I think interior is important because that's what you see when you spend all that time driving your car. And I DON'T like the retro guages (just put on my fire suit) on the Camaro- retro isn't always good.

Ford will give Mustangs Jet-Packs next year. They will do something.
Long live the ponycar wars! I have so missed the Mustang/Camaro rivalry. For the past few years it seems like it's just been Batman with no Joker around.

Whats even worse is they arent even there yet. Ls1's have been dyno proven many many times to be underrated, they had the same 350hp as the vette. So they still have 35 to go.

I dont agree. Looks are subjective, and alot of people, me included, actually really liked the GTO. Fact of the matter is, GM followed the same exact formula with the GTO as they did the first time around- big engine in family car. The first GTO's were Tempest Lemans with a 389 shoved under the hood and some badges slapped on. People now days just don't want to buy the sleeper look, so it failed.

Do you think the new Camaro has the "sleeper" look? I owned a 68 GTO but not a new one that is much faster. I think looks are important, and not just in women.

i mean how can you compare the look of a '68 GTO (my 2nd fav. GTO year btw 1st is '65) to the look of the "new" GTO

LMAO!! Put a nice exhaust on the Camaro with a few other minor mods and the V6 will put out more HP that the V8 Mustang... LOL

Need we forget what the Mustang GT produced last year? 300hp, but with a CAI that they dropped in this year it produces 315, coincidence? Maybe.

The mustang is a nice car, I just prefer myself a Camaro.

I have my issues with both, but interior design/layout is not high on the list of reasons to buy either car.

at you calling the Mustang heavy. Pot, meet Kettle.

As for sales, Ford sold no less than 95% of the GT500's built in the 2007 and 2008 model years. 2009 numbers are yet to be released, but given the economic downturn that occurred in late 2008, I figure the numbers will not be as robust.

Until GM builds a Camaro making greater than 540hp from the factory, the fanboys will have to accept that there is a factory Mustang being produced that the Camaro will have to play second fiddle to.
Great pics!!

And, the "wars" have started again!

Let the best car win.

(TBD)

(let's keep this civil, people)

The old Chally has a look that can be modernized and was. The old GTO IMO just couldn't have cut it the way the Chally has. Personally I liked the GTO remake, and would've bought one were in not for insurance prices. I see more of those @ the track than anything so those who wanted them got them and use them as the were intended.
