Offer for my Camaro today

I received an offer on my Camaro today. All I have to do is forward the $1,000 shipping fee (included with the purchase price) to England and then the $53,000 will be deposited into my PayPal account.

Seems legit.....

They even sent a fake PayPal confirmation email.

Some idiots must be falling for this stuff or they would not keep trying it.

The reply email I sent him cannot be put on here or I will get banned.

Next the buyer will ask that you deposit 54 k into a bank of their choosing so that they can approve, write and underwrite their own financing loan agreement, between you and them. lol

The sad thing is this practice still works for them - especially in this economy.

My aunt lost $5k on a chevelle a few years ago. Someone put an ad in our local paper, she called, talked to a lady that gave her some sad story about her husband dying. My aunt stupidily sent her the $$ and guess what? ad gets pulled and phone number gets d/c....one day people will learn. First sign was a $5k chevelle!!! If that kind of car is going for that price, run dont walk away from it cuz there isn't going to be much left.

I got an enquiry a couple of years ago on my M3 when I was selling it...posted this on the bimmerforums back then and thought you might get a kick out of it here....

He should be the one making this enquiry but he will be travelling to Brussels on a business trip and he left instructions for me. I will be making arrangement with an agent (Mr Charles Neptali) for test drive also he will be the one to handle shipment and pick-up of the vehicle.I am only helping him out as this vehicle will be needed by the family for an upcoming event.I am managing my father's oil company in United Kingdom though I reside in US.
Please I have some questions to ask:
1) Has the vehicle ever been involved in any form of auto accident?
2) Do you have the title papers?
3) How often do you change engine oil?
4) Why are you selling the vehicle?
5) What is the bottom dollar price for this vehicle?
6) Whats the vehicle's VIn Number?
7) Which other sites/magazine do you have this vehicle listed?
I will be looking forward to your response as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Mr Charles Wainer

And my response to him...

I can meet your inlaw and tell them all about this car, maybe we can even have a waffle while we're there. I must admit first however, that the car is not really mine...and it has been in an accident, and I'm not sure the oil has ever been changed. The mileage is not right either, it has about 232,126 miles on it right now, but I'm driving it, so it should be lower by the time you pick it up. The accident was really no big deal either, the car was simply rolled down a hill into the ocean. We were able to find it about a month later and it cleaned up very nice, however it still smells slightly of fish. There are some scrapes on the roof as well, but they should be able to be buffed right out. I was participating in a street race and somehow flipped the car onto it's roof; I was upside and backwards but I did manage to win...and the car was only very slightly on fire. And by slightly on fire, I mean the fuel tank exploded and covered the entire car with ignited gasoline. Until that day, I had never seen paint actually melt. I collected the melted paint and it comes with the car, it's a beautiful color of smoke grey and comes in a lovely white 5 gallon bucket (the lid will cost extra however). If you want to test drive the car, you will need to bring your own seat and a steering wheel as I have neither of these things.

I anxiously await your response.

Don't fall for the autotrader.com private ads too. Some of them are fraudulent. My friend almost did until I stopped him.

I had a friend who got scammed for like 20,000. Truck for sale, ship to UK. Sent them 40,000 fake check, they cashed it, it bounced. And spent the money before they realized it bounced. And could not return the items. They got screwed.
