The car is a all around car. I drag race, street race and I'm getting in to autocross so 60' times are not my main goal. My main goal is over all drive ability. A lamborghini isn't ment to be a drag car but people still runs 11s on stock tires not drag radials and I have seen how fast they and other awd cars take off. I run dr all the time and I have seen awd cars on street tires fly off the line faster then me.

Weird when you think about it, but nonetheless true.
But what about around a corner?

DietCoke did you ever get that whole aspartame issue worked out??

Since when did chevy build a front wheel drive camaro The people I see that would want a awd camaro... dont care about the cars history, and I dont see ZR1's having a problem wopping cars because its rwd. BTW I just got rid of my 03 SS awd... its a truck not a muslce car, awd trucks are the sh$t, I just dont think they belong in muscle cars.

Strickly talking 60' times (getting off the line)

AWD has a huge advantage on the street. AWD also has a nice advantage at the track (stock vs stock). I owned a modded 02 WRX and 04 STi. With the stock tires, I was pulling 1.66 sec 60' times in my STi. I could also launch that thing on the street just as well as the track.

But once you start modding and running on a well prepped track, the advantage starts to swings back in favor of RWD.

RWD is a much better setup for high horse powered applications due to weight transfer going to the rear tires on launch. You get those rear tires to stick, and your going to fly off the line.

The euro version camaro is going to be fwd. The only problem the ZR1 has is traction. So if they came out with a v6 with 800rwhp and ran on water you wouldn't put it in your camaro because of the cars history? I'm not to worried about keeping the car stock to keep it original. If some one offered me a awd lamborghini for my camaro that deal is getting excepted! I'm just see what everyone would think about the performance aspect of awd over rwd.

But that's just at a well prepped track and not on the street or a road course. Everyone I know that has modded there camaro is running in to traction problems. If I run slicks at a track my car hooks great but who wants to drive around on slicks? So you get a drag set up for the track, but what about after the track or on the way to the track?

Street tires = no traction when its dry. Lol
DR = good traction, driving in the rain sucks!
Slicks = great traction at the track, can't drive on the street

So who on here with 500+ hp isn't having traction problems?

If they came out with a 800hp v6 on water... no I have no intest in it in my camaro! Running on water yes... but you can keep the v6, also this euro version I have not heard of, sounds pretty stupid though. If thats true then I dont consider it a camaro... is it called a camaro? The ZR1 does not have traction problems, it has allot of power and needs to be driven with respect. I am a die hard true muscle car guy, V8s and RWD and you can keep the rest We can just agree to dissagree then.

Heck, my L99 A6 (bolt ons and converter) with drag radials can't hook up to save my life on the street.

I'm guessing you have never drove a ZR1? I love speed and performance not just muscle. So agree to disagree.

Good luck with your upgrade I dont think we will ever see an AWD conversion unless its a camaro body on a hole new frame, or somone with more money then brains.
