canadian parts suppliers
I'm looking for a satin finished fuel door for my camaro. The sites that I have found here are in the US. When I'm filling in my personal info, they only have selections for US in the country box. WTF??? Are there any places here in Canada where I could get one of these, (besides GM)?
If I did order out of the US, would I pay duty, HST, etc? |

yes, you end up paying our taxes as well. If I remember correctly though, in the Canadian area there was a thread a while back where people posted all kinds of internet based stores that sell parts from Canada. Try a search.

If the parts are made in North America you won't pay any duty. You will pay HST. If you can, have your parts shipped USPS to avoid brokerage fees. Canada post only charge $5 + the HST when you pick up your package. Better still, if it’s a small item see if the supplier will mark the customs papers "commercial sample" and you pay nothing. Larger items you can have shipped UPS to "Ship Happens" across the border. A lot of suppliers ship for free in the US, so all you do is set up an account (small fee) with Ship Happens (there’s a couple of others as well) and they will email you when your parcel arrives. You go across the border and pick it up. This way you avoid the steep cost that UPS charges for brokerage. With us on the island you just have to weigh out the cost to see what works the best. There is so much more available across the border its worth it.
Hope this helps. |

Already tried searching, b4 I posted this....
Useless, tried many keywords, with no luck. Been scrolling thru pages of posts with no success. Thanks sawdusty, just looking for a fuel door, so it's not worth it to pick it up in the US.. maybe I'll contact a US supplier and see if I can get it mailed here. |
