Your crass comments aside,
How do you feel about the value of the Camaro buying your new vehicle at such a steep discount PRE LAUNCH? It sort of makes it un special to me as a CAMARO ENTHUSIAST. I kind of liked the idea of whatever I buy being special. Im sure you are just excited as a consumer to get a cheap price and thats ok thats your perogitive but I think you took my comments to mean I was hating on a dealer as another dealer and thats not entirely true. If a dealer feels the need to whore out Chevrolets all they really do is devalue the product to all of us the end users. The residuals/resale values will all be set based upon initial sales pricing vs volume. I for one believe the Camaro should be a high value vehicle for Chevrolet not some value priced vehicle like an Aveo but hey thats just my opinion.

Welcome to the retail car market in 2009, do you call the dealers that sell 4k over sticker a rip off?

It's called the open market. When you realize that people will take a plane to get a fair deal on an item that can be bought around the corner, you know you have the right product for the right price and when you know how to treat people like humans. Maybe you to can get the highly educated consumer that goes on a forum and not just the occasional whale that happens by your showroom because of geographic location to his home.

Selling $500.00 above invoice is good business to get repeat business. Selling above MSRP then giving garbage on a trade and buying up an APR on loans is a Whore.

We are all done with dealers like you and we are going to take back the fair-market system with these forums and you are powerless and small against the power of the informed consumer of the 21st century.:flag2:

Why are you attacking me when I am giving my opinion which is just as valid as yours? Whats wrong with you? You do not know me or my business practices and to quote about them is just plain silly. Do not fall for the pack mentality and make this me against the forum thing cyberamature it might just backfire on you. I am and will continue to be a helpful member/dealer who has been helping other members out far longer than you have in here. If you do not understand my opinion about ANY dealer selling a NEW Chevrolet product so cheaply under msrp pre launch thats ok you just dont get it. I wasnt asking for you to take this as your opportunity to spout off in here and be seen as some cyberbully. We can always agree to disagree without the slanderous comments cant we? Now would be a good time for you to say likewise and redeem yourself but I am sure you wont have the timerity to do it. This wasnt a my dealer screws people and anyone who doesnt is an ahole for being so nice post I made guys it was just my honest opinion of any dealers cheap selling new product pre launch nothing more nothing less. If I must be flamed for sharing my personal opinions as a fellow Camaro enthusiast that just happens to GM a Chevy dealership then so be it but I really thought I was entitled to my opinions too:flag2:

Sounds like you had a bad experence with your dealer "just around the corner".

Maybe they didn't like where you stayed either?

Please keep in mind we are in a unique day and time with our economy, if everyone would think fair to all and not expect the consumer to pay a premium price and/or overpay, nor should we expect the dealer to be required to take a loss we would all be better off. I have bought all my vehicles at $500 over invoice since I can remember. I simply go find a dealer willing to sell at this price. This plus the 3% dealer hold back is a far deal for me and the dealer. Using the Camaro for example with a MSRP of $38,000 the dealer holdback would be $1,140. Add this to the $500 over invoice and the dealer makes $1,640 on the car. Yes, in many cases there are doc fees, ads fees, prep fees and other creative fees at times, but you just have to decide if the dealer is being reasonable with his fees. I applaud Steve and the other dealers that have done this. As always the rest will soon follow. Greed in one form or the other got us to where we are now with the economy and we are all in this together so we all need fair at this point for the sake of the consumers, the dealers and the auto manufactures.

Oh BTW, I have bought the cars below over the past 6 years all at Invoice plus $500
Chevy Duramax 3500
Chevy Silverado 1500
GMC Yukon
Chevy Tahoe LTZ
Ford Mustang GT
Chevy Malibu
Mercury Milan

YO...

NO FIGHTING IN MY THREAD.

I highly respect TeamLynn's input throughout the C5 site and he has every right to voice his opinion without getting "balls deep" responses. That's just uncalled for.

Obviously I disagree with the $500 over invoice devaluing the vehicle; especially when we're talking less than $1700 between invoice and MSRP (base without options). We're not talking a $4600 difference like the Corvette where $500 over invoice is a $4100 swing...

We all know 8-9 months from now, when things settle down and Camaros are readily available, people will be buying these from dealers at/near invoice- they always do. It's the "I'll get the dealer to invoice" mentality and in this economic climate, it generally works. The Camaro will be the exception, temporarily, because of supply and demand. But it WILL NOT stay at sticker once supply is available to the masses.

I agree with everything you said and appreciate your words as well. You point about the smaller mark up between invoice and msrp is why I felt it was important to hold the margin but I do also agree that in a year or so we will be selling these for at or near invoice once supply exceeds demand. Capitalism is what it is. On a seperate note we are only 2 more days away from our babies being rolled out................. hooray the day is finally here!

Ok I'm sorry for the balls deep comment it was a little harsh, but when I read your first post I was infurriated with you being angry that a dealer is selling 500 over INVOICE...

Now let me see if i have this straight, invoice is the price it costs them from GM, anything above that is just extra money in their pocket, so if they are willing to take a little less profit to make a sale you cannot give them problems for doing so...

Again I'm sorry for offending you with the comment but it was in the heat of the moment

No, the dealer makes a holdback, ie a % of MSRP, so he is actually buying it for less than invoice.

so even better...the argument about devaluing an amazing car is non existent, there will always be dealers being greedy and marking the cars up, then there will be the dealers selling at less than MSRP, so in essence it will likely average itself out at a price near MSRP (more likely over because most people wont get a Camaro at 5k under MSRP, but dealers will sell many for 5K plus over MSRP)...

So in conclusion I say, Thank you Steve and Basil Chevrolet for doing a great thing and allowing us to get this car at a great price...who cares what anybody else thinks!!!
