you're a lucky guy. I put my order in almost 7 weeks ago and just reached 4300 today. they told me 6-8 weeks. so depending on how long shipping takes i should get it right around the 8 week mark. mines a vert though... wondering if those take longer to produce in general?

They may have to get a batch of them together before they ship, though a week seems like a long time. Check out my sig, took 10 days to ship "Catharine".

Ok, it's now been 2 weeks since my car was bayed (for the second time) and still nothing.
I've all but given up on having it for 4th of July weekend (which seemed like a sure thing a few weeks ago)
I NEED to have this car for the weekend after that... i planned a beach trip around having a convertible to drive out there! Didn't think there was any way it could possibly take this long to ship. What's it still doing bayed?

well we've just passed the stroke of midnight and its officially 3 weeks since my convertible was bayed. i've gotten absolutely nowhere with my phone calls to chevy customer service. all they will tell me is the car has not left the factory in canada yet. no explanation, no eta, no solutions.

summer here in NY is nearing the halfway point, so i've been driving around in my old car which is falling apart with the windows down while a brand new convertible sits in a parking lot unused... for 21 straight days.

the customer service people are absolutely no help. nothing against them, they have been very pleasant, but they offer absolutely no explanation or solution. i asked to talk to a supervisor and was told that the person would just have access to the same information i was given. so who exactly is responsible for my car not being on a train yet? that's the person i want to talk to. theres got to be SOMEONE at general motors who knows SOMETHING and has the authority to do something about it. has anyone here had a similar situation? who do i need to bitch to or threaten to cancel my order in order to get this car shipped?

if this stretches to a month (thats about one more week,) im cancelling. i dont want a convertible in august. makes no sense to get one right before the weather starts to cool down.

forgive me for venting here, i just needed someway to let out this frustration thats been building up over the better part of the last month. im really disgusted right now.

Since you know my story from the shipping thread I won't get into it, but I didn't get any action until I started asking for escalations, plant managers contact info, vp's etc. I also had my dealer get involved to push the same message from their end.

In the end GM shipped the half empty rail car (started moving last Thursday... After 3 weeks as well).

One can only assume you are in the same situation. I would clearly tell them what is going on and why it's delayed, and that a shipment waiting until September is completely unacceptable.... Hopefully you can get some movement as well.

I lost sleep for days being upset about, so I know how you feel. I myself was days away from cancelling as well. Best of luck!

July 15th...
My car has officially been sitting in a parking lot in Oshawa for one month.

Congratulations Chevy, you just lost $35,000. I'm cancelling my order.

Wow, I'm dismayed, shocked, apalled ...

This is crazy.

I'm not happy about it either...

If I lived in California or Florida or someplace with convertible-friendly weather for more than 4 months out of the year, I wouldn't mind.

But living in NY, for a convertible I ordered back in April, a convertible which has just been sitting bayed for an entire month (which there is NO excuse for)... I just can't in my right mind take delivery of this car in August.

My condolences. But I can certainly appreciate your position of ordering in April (with a short "convertible season") and getting the answers you got. Kudo's for telling them to stuff it.

Not to bring up bad feelings, but did they, by any chance, ever allude to the truth that they were waiting for the rail to fill up? I mean, did they ever give you the courtesy and respect of supplying you with an honest answer?

Absolutely not. I even called them out on it and they told me that wasn't the case... so it seems that they flat out lied to me (because we all know that's most likely what happened.)
The only response I ever got from them every time I called was something along the lines of "the car is still in Oshawa, and no further updates are available. Work closely with your dealer as they get the first updates." I heard that line three or four times.
Once they also tried telling me that the wait was due to the fact that they were making sure I would get the "quality vehicle I was expecting when I placed the order" which is complete crap. Even if the car went to a QC check theres no way it would take this long... and they would've been able to tell me if that's what was going on, which I would've understood and cut them some slack.
No, this car is sitting in a parking lot because they don't want to spend an extra couple hundred bucks to ship a rail car that's not full... but nobody would admit it. So they lost a sale and at least one customer. I personally will never buy a Chevrolet, and most of my friends/family have seen this horror story unfold first-hand over the past 4 months so I guarantee they'll think twice about buying a Chevy as well.
Just really a shame that it had to end this way. Not good for me, not good for them.
