they will be similar in performance, its basically a personal preference. my thinking is this- both are amazing, freaky-fast cars. but the ZL1 is the top of the camaro heap. the Grand Sport is the bottom of the corvettes. nothing against the GS corvette, but thats just my opinion. and, im pretty sure there will be less ppl with a zl1 camaro than with a gs vette, so if you wanted exclusivity, that might be something to think about. and i dont know about where you live, but i see about 20 corvettes a day. and even with the new camaros selling so well, i see maybe 3 a week. the camaro also looks better, imo.

And even the "bottom of Corvettes" is pretty damn great. I would also suspect that most people shopping for a ZL1 or Corvette would not have it as their only car. Corvettes are at the top of the Chevy food chain for a very good reason. I know if I was shopping, and a loaded GS and a loaded ZL1 were the same price, I wouldn't even consider the Camaro.

They most likely will be, by the time the Zl1 is available for consumption, most of the 2012's will be nicely discounted. I know I can get a 2011 3lt GS for around $55K right now. While I don't know the exact price of the ZL1, I bet they will be in the ballpark.

I wouldn't go that far. They both have the same engine, Grand Sport is slightly heavier. Only reason GM advertises a 0-60 .2 better is due to better traction from larger tires. The GS will probably corner better if that's what you are referring.

Actually they start right at $55K. For $70K must have been pretty well equipped.

.

Which one turns you on more?

I'll do an Animal Planet comparison.

Corvette is a cheetah, very cool and seriously fast.

ZL1 is a Bengal Tiger. Not as streamlined as cheetah, but will still eat your lunch. (or eat you for lunch)

I'll take the Big Cat.

I'm more talking about all the Z06 tid bits that the car gets over the regular C6. The oil system, suspension, brakes/tires, and body will all help. It's pretty much as close as you can get to a Z06 without actually buying a Z06. The C6 and GS may use the same engine, but the GS does a heck of a lot better job of using it.

I guess steroids was too much. More like muscle enhancers.

I'll go along with a few enhancers but hardly compared to a Z06 with that big 427 cu. in. engine.

Shouldn't the ZL1 be able to outperform the GS vette?

I read somewhere recently the 2011 GT500 went up against the GS vette on a road course and beat the vette.
Actually the GS won. I would love to own a ZL1 and hope to own one when they start production. However, If I could get a Corvette GS for the same price as a ZL1, it's Corvette all the way. The thing is, I've optiond out a GS online and the price ended up being 64K... looks like I'll be getting a ZL1.

no the base corvette is the bottom of the heap..the grand sport is a step under the middle tier z06..
