See I had a different problem with my trunkrack on my Camaro. The lip hooks I could get on, it was the side hooks that hook to the sides of the trunk lid that I kept losing, they slip off and are hard to get in because the body seam is so tight. I've used it to go a few miles a couple times but I would never take it on the parkway or anything.

I had a bike rack on my old Acura, went with a Yakima. Thule makes a good one as well. I am sure that either brand will have something available for the Camaro.
I personally would not install one on mine. Also, had a Thule on my Montero Sport. it worked great for loading Kayaks on the roof, as well as mountain bikes. another option is to install a hitch on the back, and both Thule and Yakima make those as well. |

God damn. All you hater SUCK. So the guy want to throw a rack on his car for his bike. So what. He didn't scratch up that car by leaning his seat on it. CHILL.
I want to put a rack on my Camaro too. I also live in SF. It RULES. Road bikes aren't gay. Being addicted to car forums and flaming everyone is though. I don't want a trunk rack either... can't get in my trunk with my bike on my car. I want a roof rack with my SICK ASS BIKE on top of my SICK ASS CAR. There's nothing wrong with what this dude Jake wants. Many of us want the same thing. That's how I found this vial ruthless thread filled with pissed off at nothing judgmental loser responses. Yo Jake. Let's go for a ride. Holler atta pimp. Late. Flame on losers.

You know what really SUCKS? Bringing back a thread that's a year and a half old so that you can rant about it. That's what SUCKS!

I felt your pain on the bike rack issue. Coming out of a Suburban which was heaven to haul my bikes around I was stumped about the bike rack but believed and still do, that it was worth the change because the only reason I needed a big SUV was to haul my bikes, my friends bikes etccc. SOOOOOO, here's what ya do! I've done this and it works, BUT, ya have to be oh so freakin careful, like lay a blanket over the trunk for sure. Back seat layes down so take your front wheel off, remove your seat post and oh so carefully manuever your baby in the trunk. I actually have video of my husband showing me how to do it. For none riders they'll think we're stupid, but for me it made my car the PERFECT car for me! Good luck! I wouldn't lean your bike on your car though, lol!

I did a hitch, Reese/Drawtite makes one that bolts right up to the underbody. No drilling, no fuss. Took longer to gather the tools than to install the unit.
Have a Saris CycleOn rack installed, carries 2 bikes. Works awesome and you really don't see the bikes from the front of the car, still able to see through them in the rear view mirror also. |
