I have lived here in SC for about 16 years and still can't stand boiled peanuts. Too salty and mushy. I like mine honey roasted. Something that I have acquired a taste for here in the South is strawberry rhubarb pie. Dadgum that stuff is good.

Yah Brother Coonass are the best, they are found all round N'Orleans clear to Mississippi! I boil'em up myself when I gettem raw! My best buddy is a Panama era Marine who's from Mississippi, and he goes there to see family regularly, everytime he comes back he brings a lotta cans of cajun boiled peanuts! We were eatnem up last saturday night at a party we threw!

Brandotron, dude, they're really soft and juicy and you just pull off the shell and you get a really delicious treat! They're canned in the water they're boiled in and the crawfish boil cajun variety are my favorite! Of course I was Born and raised in southern Louisiana.

Those are the best kind. Gotta be careful around tourist areas though, like Rock City or Ruby Falls; they sell them year round, so you know they are not "really" fresh. Best time is after harvest.

Now I'm hungry!!

Boiled peanuts are a mainstay here in Florida. Driving home to Tampa from Jacksonville Monday we passed one stand selling "Smoked Peanuts." I've never seen them before and now I wish I had stopped to check them out.

I've smoked plenty of stuff, especially when I was younger, but never peanuts. What chu' do, boil 'em first, or just add liquid smoke and garlic salt?

On my way home from work today I stopped at the country store and got a sandwich bag full.

Yummy, but not as good as the ones you get on the side of the road!!

People up north just don't know what they are missing. I've been munching on them for the last three or four days.
