I was about to say something similar.. Just because it "looks" like it "might" work better doesn't mean it will. I'm sorry, I'm going to take the stats and testing from professionals who designed the intake over some guy posting in a forum.

Mach, you have no idea if it's better or not. It was probably worse because it restricted air, but just like you I'm just assuming. That's why I leave the design to the professionals.

As mentioned before the prototype was just that and the final release was tested and released as a better performance modification. Unless you have a engineering physics degree and have personally designed and tested the device I'm going to have to disagree.

I'd also rather have something that's not going to dent, scratch or make the bottom of my hood look like garbage like those big ugly nasty boxes sold by CIA and the like. They look so out of place, square, and bulky under the hood, but just like the looks of the VR, that's personal preference. The Injen however looks freakin' sweet under the hood but in Florida with all the flooded streets around here that's not something I'd like to have on my car.

To make sure you have even, positive pressure all the way around the intake I suggest using a turbo clamp - it will evenly distribute pressure all around the intake horn.

I have wondered if these would work better as well.

I have an engineering physics degree, what's the question?

Thats Gretchen!! The most famous V6 Gen5 camaro around..

We did one of the first twin turbo bulds released as a package for the 3.6 and now its been shipped back for forging the motor, new drivetrain, and upping the boost so were in the 550-600 hp range.

We will have it running in the 10's soon making it the worlds quickest in the 1/4 mile and still keeping it show car in appearance.

This is the main R&D car we use for developing products for the 3.6.

Tracy (SC2150),

I, for one, appreciate the explanations!
If I don't understand how it works, how do I know what I need to make it better or even keep it from being damaged?

Maybe we should all just blindly throw money at some product with not a clue of how it works or if we even need it.

Ok Got mine installed. Everything went great. Sounds Great. I also turned the skirt out at the ends instead of in.
One of the things I changed is the placement of the Big Chrome Breather
I pulled the hose off the back of the Valve Cover and put the breather Back on.

That hold assembly will come off and you end up with just a short piece of hose and the plastic piece that goes into the valve cover, put the breather on the short hose and plug it back into the valve cover.

You aren't going to need to tighten it down very much, just something for you to be aware of - hope it helps.
ChadG where can I get them?
That is one good idea.

Things noted today after VR install last night:
- Pronounced exhaust burble
- Better mileage
- Sounds aggressive when I hit the mad pedal. Far louder than I was expecting - not a bad thing.

Computer should be adjusted nicely now too - I put on 125 miles a day. Will have to see how 3rd gear does tomorrow.
