I think several dealers are still sitting on the pace cars because they wanted to play the over sticker charade...when they try to put $5K over sticker, etc, maybe the first one or two gets grabbed up, but as the cars kept showing up in the showrooms, sticker seemed to be the price as I watched it....several dealers went right to Ebay, but you can see how after the race, the prices immediately went to sticker....my $.02

People were paying over sticker in late Feb & all of March, mostly for manuals, autos also sold for 3k over sticker in March. It was hard for most to find a dealer that had one coming in, people panic, but as dealers started getting them prices came down, it seems that there were only about 475 people that really wanted one which left deals out there toward the end, that was a surprise to me and the few greedy dealers that wanted as much as 20K over sticker. People here on this site said over and over don't pay over sticker they will be cars at sticker just wait, my hats off to them for there wisdom. It was very interesting following this from early Feb till now. I would like to know the official GM totals for all pace cars built and see if they really only made 500. Anyone out there know?

I would think any other dealers around the country that has one would welcome MSRP and then ship it to you for cost of shipping, $500 to $1K ??...there are even several dealers trying to sell last years pace cars at msrp....good luck ! Agree with Heff....seems that ther were really only about 475 willing to step up and buy a car , the other thing that surprised me was many of the festival cars had a lot of mileage on them, makes you wonder what they were used for ?? Did Domino's pizza need some delivery vehicles ?? Just thinking outloud...my $.02

Selling Pace Cars is like selling milk. With milk, if you don't sell it by the expiration date, it goes stale. That's why they pet the date if the race on the side of the car. If the dealer doesn't sell a Pace Car by the race date, it goes stale and the value drops every day after that.

I might be suspicious of any of the 6 speed pace cars that are left for sale now. I know of one that was ordered back in March that came in with paint damage the person who ordered it. Needless to say he did not buy it but, I can bet the dealer had it fixed and is selling it now. Some have the front license plates installed and most do not have the original documentation packing and build sheets that came with the car when shipped.

I confess, I did pay over sticker. It's a 6spd and the sticker was $47,000. The dealer wanted $52,000. We settled on $50,000. I had opportunities to buy autos at sticker, but considering the auto's were something around $1,400 more as an option, I was only paying an additional $1,600 to get the car I wanted. It's only 3%, and it's a car I wanted to buy to drive and show, not to speculate and get a return. Not the 1st time I spent a little extra to get the car I wanted. No regrets here. I love the car.

Geno, hang your head high, you should buy what you like and enjoy it... I just think some dealers got a little too greedy and I think that those dealers are now looking at the last several month's floor plan and will definitely have to pull the cord now and dump their cars (especially since the 2012 are coming!)...stick or auto is like "Miller beer" less filling, good taste...buy whatever, I personally feel that a standard shift would eventually become harder to sell because less people are being trained on standard shifts, plus a Camaro can be attractive a little more to a female and a lot of females don't drive stick shifts (my wife refuses to learn)!! I think the auto in the Camaro works well, IF you want to shift, go ahead and use the paddle shifters on the wheel, something like "sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't!" Also with the auto you get auto start as well, fun thing to have in the heat or colder weather...also if I drink too much, I can get a designated driver where finding someone to drive a standard shift may be harder at 3 in the morning....my $.02

Really? Pace cars are not for the daily run to the bar for a few drinks, then ask someone to drive you home. A real auto enthusiast / collector will always choose a stick over auto, and pay a premium for it. While the younger generation has been brought up learning how to drive autos, every youngster that has rode in one of my cars with a stick asks me if I could teach them how to drive it. I would love it if kids today would have to learn and drive stick shift cars, this would keep them from talking on the phone, texting and understanding that driving the car is the priority of the trip, not playing with their electronic toys etc. I have tried the paddle shifter, it's not even close to the real thing. I sure many of the 2011 pace car owner's wont need auto start either, they will be looking for a warm place to keep their car in the winter. And Geno you made a good move securing a pace car when you did, especially if you bought it locally have fun with it!

Thanks Heff. I was starting to feel depressed. NOT!

Dead on about the stick. That's almost all I've ever had. I'm approaching 50 and intend to keep my left leg and right arm strong. And I've taught both my son and daughter to drive a manual, too. Auto's are fine for daily drivers, but my muscle cars will always be driven by me, and not a computer. I decide when to shift!

Pastohio, your entitled to your opinion and I respect it. I'll take great taste over less filling.

Thanks,

Geno

Yeah, yeah I convinced myself that there was not much difference between them too. I made all the same arguments; you want to shift use "paddle shift", and the AFM was no big deal, what’s 20 some HP anyway and on the up side I got remote start! Well as someone who has now owned both, I will tell you that here is bigger difference then I expected or wanted to admit. Sorry but, if you want a Camaro muscle car the MANUAL is the ONLY way to go. You want a grocery getter get the automatic.....just saying p.s. both of my boys and the wife know how to drive a manual and my youngest at 22 would only own a manual car.
