LS3 Cam Upgrade Question

Hello All,
I know this has been asked 100 times but I still cannot find the answer I have been looking for. What Cam/valve springs/push rods/lifters/rockers is the best set-up for a daily driver that I want to keep N/A and not kill the engine in a few years but still get good hp/tq gains. Money is not a factor in this decision, I want the best with the best support. The reason this is important is because I live on Maui and I will be doing the work myself. Other future mods will be a complete Kooks exhaust and a CAI from CAI. In short, help me build a beast N/A LS3!
Thanks in advance!

What do you consider a DD? ones you change out the cam you will need new valve springs, if you use the car as a DD you will need to keep a watch on them as most if not all will need to be replaced every 20,000Mi or so.

Hey Chief, Thanks for your service, Semper Fi ( Former Marine)

If you truly want STOCK drivability and I mean to be able to drive your car in 6th gear under 2000 rpms then here is what I had.

Vengeance Racing Stage I LS3/L92 Camshaft 223/231 .610/.617 115+4

I made roughly 445 rwhp, had a nice little lope and did not give up any drivability. I had headers, HF Cats, CAI and tuned by Vengeance.

I wanted more lope and eventually went to a Stage II cam but it does not do as well at lower rpms ( below 1800)

Of course with any cam swap make sure you get a 3 bolt cam, change the stock oil pump ( Cheap Insurance) use dual valve springs, hardened push rods, trunion upgrades and things like this.

I am sure you can contact Ron at Vengeance and he can tell you everything you need or check out their website.

I just posted this in another cam thread but it applies here as well.

I would select a competent shop that you plan on working with and consulting with them to put together a well thought out build plan.

Here is a link to an article on our blog that discusses cam basics.

something in the 226-228 intake duration range ground a 115+2 using mild lobes with big lift and a set of PAC springs to match.... Morel link-bar lfiters... hardened push-rods the thicker walled the better.. factory rocker is fine to .650 lift the Comp Cam trunnion rebuild is a good idea

We offer a whole package, I have a questionnaire that you fill out and we spec the cam based on how you answer the questions.. You wont see the best power though until you do the CAI and Headers

i will also copy my other post as it applies here also.

You need to get a cam that works with what ALL your future plans are. you will save yourself money in the long run that way. we have a lot of our own cam that work well NA but are for Boosted aps. i have many that run them NA for a while till they get the funds to do FI. we have two cam that are for that. still good gains NA yet great with boost. If you have any cam questions shoot me a PM and i can help you out.

Apex, I do agree with you to find a competent shop but my goal was to get input from those who have done the swap and what they used to give me a first hand opinion to base a decision on. I only have money to do this once so I have to make sure.
Thanks for the help!
