It's our family vehicle, can't get rid of it. And you're right Shurenuff, I will hate myself. Just need some bit of news to refresh my "gotta have it" attitude for this car, lol.

Hearing more info about it now won't change the fact that they aren't getting built for another 6 months or so.

It may feel like a long time, but it's really not. It's only about 6 months before these things start showing up on the street. We're almost at the home stretch, and it'll be so worth the wait

That video from Oshawa helped a little. Check it out if you haven't already. There's no new information, but the quality is exceptional.

I felt it appropriate to yank this quote from another thread into this arena.

I would bet E-85 also. This is all I run in my 6.2 in my Silverado. It runs a tad better on this vs 93 octane.

Sure, it may run on about anything you put in it, but it won't run unless you put the highest level octane premium gas you can find in it. The computer will compensate for cheap fuel and retard the timing so it won't detonate....but trust me, do yourself a favor and don't scrimp on the fuel. The engine will know it, and so will you when you stand on it.

E85 has a higher octane rating than premium

Yes that is true DG, but it is also blended in three different fuel grades for the seasonal changes during the year to help with cold starting performance issues, each level is incrementaly different in octane. E85 is more sensitive to pre-ignition than gasoline. Also there is the fuel delivery issue. One will need approximately 25% higher fuel delivery capacity to use ethanol over gasoline. There is an energy density by mass difference between them. The OP's Silverado is Flex fuel rated and can handle the difference's in fuel between gasoline and ethanol, whereas the LSA will not be.

To a point. It depends on what the low octane and knock tables are set to in the ECM. There is a difference when a car says Premium fuel required or recommended. A car will run on anything you put in it, its how well or how long it will last.
