Honestly, he's simply not a car guy, but thinks he is. He read somewhere that the 300C had a V8 and RWD, and so does the Camaro. He doesn't actually know what those things mean, but he knows they both have them and thus they're both pretty much the same, and he is much more informed than the commoners. There are just some people out there who think the tiniest nugget of information makes them an expert.

I loved your comment about the glasses... It looks nothing like a 300!! It amazes me how people say oh it looks like this or that car, then you ask why and it's usually the shape of the mirror, or how the emblem is in the middle of the grill... HAA!! Okay people, seriously what was he doing at an auto show he obviously knows nothing about cars if he thinks the look a like!
