All incorrect. The suede will be an $$$$ option. Leather is standard on ZL1

"The good news, however, is that the suede treatment will be optional on the ZL1. The standard material for the steering wheel and shifter — as well as the passenger dashboard wrap — will be plain-jane leather. As such, the suede will most likely be part of a special materials package that will cost somewhere (we’re guessing) between $700 and $2,000."

"So, potential ZL1 buyers who have a disdain for anything suede… you’ll be able to get your Camaro on while paying less in the process! That said, I don’t find anything wrong with suede myself and I actually prefer the material to leather-wrapped touch surfaces."

I was hoping the suede option were just for the steering wheel and shifter... Oh well! I'm good with both but would probably take GM up on the option for suede I think it helps break the interior up a little more and tie the seats a little more into the instrument panel.

Just my thoughts here, but wouldn't the suede get dirtier? I mean, it's more absorbent, so sweat, dirt, etc would get "sucked in" and it would be tougher to clean. Probably not an issue for those of you without youngsters, but I would definitely have that concern. Not that anyone else cares, just sharing an observation.

How reliable of a source is this? Everything we've seen from the two show cars conflicts with the notion that leather will be available in place of suede on the dash and seat inserts. I wouldn't take this article, written in February before the second show vehicle was released, as gospel until further confirmation.

I wonder if fbodfather could comment on this?

.

What the article says is that leather will be standard on the steering wheel, shifter, AND dash. The dash part being the only difference from what we already had heard. That leaves the microsuede fabric as standard on the seats. (It isn't really a suede, more like Alacantra from the Caddy which has excellent and long lived characteristics- by firsthand C5er reports.)

I think this thread might be best moved to the Velour/Suede interior thread.

Same topic.

The "suede" everyone is talking about is microfiber. Completely man made.

That is why they put a carpeted trunk in the car!

According to the Chevrolet website the suede seats will be standard, the wheel and shifter will be optional!
