Your transmission does not get Limited Slip additive. That only goes into the differential if you have a Limited Slip differential (I don't know if the V6 has a LS diff or not).

yes i know,, but if you check out all the 75w-90 aftermarket oil's that you may try, they already have it added in.--So i was curios if gm used it in the part # i posted

Oh, I see what you are saying. I don't think GM would put a gear oil in the transmission with LS additive in it and then put a different gear oil and a LS additive in the differential. They would reverse them and save themselves the added operation. So they are probably using the same gear oil in both and the LS additive is put in the differential.

what your saying does makes sense. If our transmission calls for a 75w90 gear oil in the transmission then why would there be two different parts numbers if they both call for 75w-90 but the differential calls for the oil and add the LS additive.

I just had a guy at the dealer look at the actual bottle of the recommended fluid for our transmissions and it is not a gear oil it is a manual transmission fluid. The part number 88862475 in the manual is correct but what they list it as is wrong it is not a 75w-90 gear oil but a 75w-90 transmission fluid thats what the bottle says under that part number.

YES GM WOULD PUT THAT ON THE BOTTLE, LOL, As it is most likely being used just in the AY6,- ITS TO KEEP A UNEDUCATED PARTS PERSON GIVING A TECH THE WRONG FLUID.- AS a CHRYSLER PARTS DIRECTOR , I SEE WE HAVE LOTS OF GEAR OIL NOW, FOR DIFFERENT APLLICATION'S, BUT!!! STILL GEAR OIL, AND SOME FOR MANUL TRAN, AND OTHER AXLE.--Sorry for caps on, damm i keep hitting it---aND HAVE SEEN MANU TRANS HAVING TO GO TO A MOTOR OIL [YES SOME TAKE ENGINE OIL] AND SOME HAVING TO GO GROM A HEAVY TYP GEAR OIL DOWN TO AUTO SYN AUTOMATIC FLUID.--I know gm need to fix syncros but, my tran guy says when they do he bet;s it will then call for a 10w-30 oil or tranax fluid like redline MTX Synth. --- ps transaxle fluid is also called a gear oil too, but is 8o weight, but looks and pours out like autmatic fluid

My point with this whole thing is when I drained the tranmission last time the viscousity of the oil was no where near as thick as the 75w-90 gear oil. What they say in the manual is part number 88862475 which is not a gear oil but a manual transmission fluid just like MTL

MTL LIKE REDLINE IS THINNER, AS I SEEN THIS WITH CHRY TOO.gm is closer to a 10w-30 oil.-Could you find out if gm fluid has a additive in it ?? i see that all aftermarket 75-9o have the ls addive in them now. [alot of people dont know this] - After i put the red line MTL IN,, ITS EASIER SHIFT AND WELL I GUESS THAT TELLS THAT GM IS HEAVIER, WHICH I DID SEE ON THE CHANGING IT.--Sorry for caps on keep hitting

the part number for the transmission fluid is 88862475 it does not have an additive at all and it is not a gear oil like the manual says it is a 75w-90 transmission fluid

So where did you get the info it doesnt have the additive as im trying to find out.-if your just saying that because of what manul says ,,well! ??? ----Could be a upgrade to add a fluid with it maybe to help slow our sycro;s ????-- ps, when looking for fluid for veh it also says,, is to get a manull fluid that is 75-90 GL5 APROVED, WHICH IS GEAR OIL---------- Maybe the gm fluid is acually more of a 10w-30 oil, ??
