Something in my engine compartment!
Well something in my engine compartment is acting up. Dealer could not reproduce when I drove it to them.. Sure enough I go and park at work and the car is making that noise. Same thing as when I got it home tonight.
I don't know whats making this noise, but it sounds as if its coming from the driver side of the engine compartment. Headphones recommended:

I would assume it's some sort of belt. Go to autozone and pick up some STP belt treatment. Next time you hear this, spray down 1 belt at a time. Like the A/C, serpentine. Might be a pulley problem as well. Just my guesses

I'm hoping its just a belt/pulley. Hopefully itll act up again tomorrow. And I can get it taken care of. If not I don't want to end up taking my car to the dealer every other day...But at least its on the way to work!

ooojerry, let us know how it goes for you with your dealer. If they're not able to diagnose it for you this time you may want to try leaving it there overnight so they can get it on a proper cold start just to see if that might help in diagnosing the vehicle. I hope it's something simple and you can be back on the road in no time.

Thread high jacked?
Well they replaced the tensioner and serpentine belt. The engine's normal ticking has actually quieted down and so far no screech!

Hope that's the end of it!
I can hear when the seam in my belt goes around, it make almost like a ticking sound.

It was only the end for Jim.
Sorry to hear it's back. Sure sounds like a serpentine belt issue because of the frequency of it. Just an Idea, what's the chance that one of the pulleys is unbalanced so that the new belt/tensioner had no effect but is still the problem? Can you see any of the pulleys wobbling while idling? Either way GM's gotta fix it, it just sucks that you have to deal with the hassle.
