"The Dodge's 5.7-liter Hemi produces 376 hp and 410 lb.-ft of torque. And our car came paired to a six-speed manual and a deep 3.92:1 rear end. But the Dodge weighs just over two tons so 60 mph comes up in 6.4 seconds and the 1/4-mile is dispatched in 14.4 seconds at 97 mph. It slowed from 60 mph in 126.9 feet."

wtf? Are those numbers right? Those are V6 Camaro numbers

It's heavy. They built it more old school style. I admire the design myself I miss old style cars.

I just love the fact that the Camaro seems to crush the competition in every comparison I have read. I have friends that own both the Mustang and the Chally, and they keep telling me that the Camaro won't keep up... I keep telling them they are idiots, guess I'll be able to prove them wrong in about a month or so since my car is supposed to be getting built this week.

As we thought: the Camaro is the best all around pony car on the market.

So how does this chassis work compared to the Mustang GT and Challenger R/T? Brilliantly. On both the tight corners and long sweeping bends of the country roads in South San Diego County, we were not able to find the limits of the suspension or tires. The Camaro engineers have masterfully masked the fact that it weights almost two tons. Back in the city, that capable suspension does not punish the driver when the big Camaro SS hits broken pavement and potholes. The ride is smooth, supple and refined–nearly on par with the softer-tuned Dodge Challenger R/T

I'm getting a little annoyed w/ these "Shootouts" so far, it looks to me like they are all regurgitating the 13.0/111 numbers they all seem to have run at GM's press event (in Michigan in the cold) and throwing up some numbers from the other two. They were way off the average times for the GT and R/T in this test, yet still post a 13.0/111 for the Camaro? I don't think so. I think the Camaro can do better in warmer weather where it can get some traction...

And PM did not run the times for those cars on that track posted in the pictures, that is a 1/8th mile track from what I found on that Net (Barona 1/8 mile track, elevation 1600 ft).

Edmunds specifically posted in their written report that they took the SS numbers from GM's proving grounds and DIDN'T actually directly test the cars against each other (they ran the GT and R/T in SoCal, no doubt warmer), despite the pictures of the silver SS with the R/T and GT... Looks like Motortrend did the same thing too.

Thats a bunch of crap.

I want a 100% true same-day same-track same-driver test of these three....

Challenger just does not look quite right to me w/o the SRT-style hood stripes. That 70's leisure-suit style retro R/T side stripe package is hideous. And what the hell is taking so long to get one in Plum Crazy?

I still say Chrysler should have made it a Cuda. But the Chally is still cool. I actually really like the '10 stang's lines. But they are just not quite as iconic as the new camaro. And those R/T numbers aren't V6 times, they're SLOWER than the camaro V6 times. Not a fair test. From what I've read, the R/T and GT are pretty neck and neck in acceleration. That comparo didn't even have them as close.

How about translating that into English?

Those numbers are way off from what everyone else is getting. Even you should be able to understand that.

Well "everyone else" consist of 2 other mags...not exactly a huge consensus there. Lets wait and see how the Mustang does in other test. We know it's slower than a Camaro, but the question is how much slower.
