So, in sum, an exhaust will get you:
ZERO horsepower gains
increased drone
AFM clatter
$1000 poorer

2. Get a good CAI. You'll notice it on the dyno, track, and seat-of-pants. Probably +20 HP.

3. Get Solo or JBA High Flow Catalytic Converters. +20 HP and easy install.

4. axis, respectfully, is wrong about Shorties. I gained another +20 HP with mine, easy to install, and with the HF Cats, you're less than 10 HP from catted Long Tubes.

5. If you get a tune, turn off AFM. You will lose all of 1 MPG.

6. If you get a 25% underdrive pulley, your MPG goes up (sweet), maybe a little HP. But you may need to bump up the idle a bit (mine's at 750rpm from stock 550rpm).

If anyone should doubt the above, these are lessons learned, on the track, in my build thread: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=128997

Any questions, here or in my build thread.

sorry dude but there is no way in hell you are gaining 60 HP with CAI, high flow cats, and shortys. WITHOUT a tune. just not possible, end of story.

the middle xpipe is death. it is pinched in the first resonator. huge restriction. if your worried about warranty, just drive the damn car or buy a faster car with warranty.

Data logging is not even close to a mail order tune.
Then u need to reword what ur telling everyone

That they need to data log the. Send file to tuner then he'll send a tune

U just said mail tune would b good

It's been said many times that Jannety does data logging on his mail order tunes. So for it to be said over and over is silly. It's just a given.

varram intake. ..... 10 to 20
LT 20 with no tune maybe 30.. the car is going to pull timing with no tune, so it will only make so much. if u get a tune u are looking at 45 or so to the wheels.. actually just a tranny tune will knock of 3/10 on a 1/4..... if u are worried about warrenty just do lt and a CAI.. and be done till u want to go further... oww dyno tunes are better becouse that is for your car, on that day, with that temperature and humidity, but tomorrow it changes and your dyno tune just changed to. a mail order that u can send back a data log on and get adjustments on is just fine for the mods u are getting.... be learry of folks saying " I got 60 hp with this and that on a dyno. they did not say I iced down the motor and locked the torque converter up and did this and that just to show big numbers on a sheet of paper. and there are some people out there who show really really great time slips. But the did not tellu the removed the seats from the car, radio, battery, carpet, and every thing else under the sun.... hope this helps.....

+1 and def not with shorties.... you wouldn't pull that with long tubes...

And OP...Like Mike stated previously... remember there are SOME... very rare... but SOME dealerships that may actually work with you if you have a tune. But they are rare, and we try to give fellow C5 members the proper knowledge to better prepare themselves. While there are some dealerships in the country who have a few times... I would put your chances at about 2-5%.

I think you also inquired if you flashed back to the original settings, could you be covered. Also not true. If you have a dealership on their game, they will check and both flashes will be perm logged.

You don't get out much, do you?

I gained 6mph and 6-tenths before I touched the motor tune. Do the math.

It's all in my build log, documented at the track.

Ok, this may the way to go for me, right now. As I understand it, you "tune" the ECM or motor, you're busted for sure. But, a tranny tune won't void the PT warranty? Is the tranny tune not going to show up in the ECM or ECU? How do you get a tranny tune? Is it downloaded like an SCT tune?

So you're saying you gained 20+whp with just a set of shorties and the stock cats? No offense but that's even more than what the manufacturers claim and we all know how bad they fudge their numbers. I respect what you run at the track but even the die hard shorty fans only claim 5-10.

No, I did not say that. I put on the Fastlane CAI and gained 19 HP. I then put on the JBA high flow cats and gained 24 HP. I then added the JBA shorties and added 19 HP. Each proven with 7 passes at the track with the comparisons corrected for Density Altitude.

It's all in my build log. With videos.

FWIW, I actually verified manufacturer claims (more or less). Though perhaps you are right with your mis-presumption: If I had added only the shorties with stock cats, maybe I would not have gained 19 HP, maybe it would have been only 10. But I can only report what actually happened.
