Well I suppose if you have seen some of my other posts you know by now that I intend to let Lingenfelter turn my ZL1 into a beast! But even if I have said it before I still like saying it again

Just found out yesterday from Lingenfelter that Magnuson has been busy and has produced a TVS-2300 supercharger for the LSA so now there are a couple of choices for upgrading the stock 1.9L supercharger. I also found out that the ZL1 has the same fuel delivery system as the ZR1 Vette which is good up to 850 HP witout needing to add dual fuel pumps.

Anyway, once the work is done (will take a couple of months), then the plan is for the wife and I to fly up to Lingenfelter, tour the shop, test drive the car, then fly home and await delivery. I save 7% sales tax and putting 1200 miles on the car if I have it delivered (the delivery fee and tax are about a wash).

I have been perusing the idea of starting a build thread when the work actually begins. I will have to think on it

Quick question in regards to your comment about saving on sales tax. It's been a very long time since I bought a new car, but I was under the impression that you paid the sales tax on the vehicle depending on where you live/have the vehicle registered. Is that incorrect? This 10%+ sales tax in Chicago's Cook County is a killer, so if purchasing from out of state makes a difference, it would be something I'd like to investigate.

VERY interesting... I wonder what changes they are making to get the TVS 2300 to work. The heads are basically so similar to LS3 heads that the lower manifold should just bolt right up. I would think they could just jamb the LS3/L99 kit into ZL1 I thought you were going to say Lingenfelter was going to stab LS9's SC into ZL1, but since Magnuson's involved, I guess that's not the case. Very interesting...

The 7% tax savings I was referring to was on the Lingenfelter work, not the original purchase of the car. I think you may be stuck on the sales tax because when you apply for the title and license your taxing authority is going to make sure you pay unfortunately.

Putting the ZR1 supercharger into the ZL1 is certainly the other option, but if you are trying to dress up the engine bay (lets face it, the LSA could use a little dressing up), then a big chrome TVS-2300 with some Lingenfelter covers would do the trick

Aren't there some problems with mounting the 2300 on LSA? I know it's running like a 10-rib belt system, and I believe LSA's running an 8-rib. The pulleys are going to be different. The angle of the TB inlet are going to be different, too. If the fuel systems are the same, that shouldn't be a big issue. The intercoolers and upper plenums are interchangeable, so that's not biggie.

While I really like the looks of Maggies, I'm surprised how much I like LSA's upper plenum, opposed to CTS-V"s LSA and LS9. It might be nice to do something to replace the fuel rail and coil pack cover, but that doesn't really bug me either.

Where I'm getting more is hearing the statement about the fuel systems being the same as ZR1... We all know what LS9 makes in ZR1, and we know what CTS-V makes. Why does ZL1 need ZR1's fuel system unless it requires it for it's fuel demands (i.e. power level)? This further encourages me to think we'll be at least 580 horsepower

I'll be honest - the more GM gives me, the less I have to do Start at the bottom to make use of all the power and work my way up doing the smaller things. ZL1's about maybe 90% of what I want out of it, ultimately, so if I can get way with spending less than $5K over the first several years of ownership, I'm going to be happier than a pig in s**t

I'm already dreaming about Tahoe... I can't for you guys to get yours so I can start seeing some new pictures!!!

As to the fuel system, this is the actual quote Jeff made to me "The ZL1 has a unique fuel system that is similar to the ZR1. If it is anything like it, it will be able to handle over 850HP at the flywheel."

So now I realize I made the statement that the ZL1 will have the same fuel system and that was a misinterpretation of what I was told . . . sorry about that!

OH... That's a little different than what I was thinking. Both LS9 and LSA have dual-mode fuel systems, so under light throttle, a lower pressure is being pushed and at high load, the secondary high pressure system is pumping; I guess it's kinda' like a 4-barrel carb'. That's the way I understand the basics work for those fuel systems anyways.

I should've thought about that a little more

Looking at overdrive crank pulleys and underdrive SC pulleys, I'm thinking about the mid-teens D3 says they can get that little 1900 up to like 19+ psi with their bolt-ons and H/C package! Of course, you gotta' get all the intercooler and H/E upgrades, too.
