Well try and keep it for 8 months in hopes that it won't be detected and honestly a cel doesn't even matter to me so I'm thinking right now I'll probably order the OBX's or possibly stainless works and get high flows

Well, now your entering into a new ballgame.

Shorties if installed correctly should not throw a CEL. I'd recommend the DT shorties if you went that route.

Otherwise if you go LT headers you will certainly get a CEL. Doesn't mean you have to tune, but you will probably want to eventually. Which opens us up into the long running discussion of whether or not GM can easily see a tuned V6 ECM. Most of the evidence says there is no flash counter, but who knows?

Again it boils down to the risk you are willing to take on, because if GM did find out you were tuned, say bye bye to that warranty!

Good luck!

It's hit and miss. Not everyone, and those that were getting the CEL were tracing it back to the stacker flange setup.

Not a single CEL with over 200 DT Shorties sold so far........

One answer for Shorties...DTs.

I put on Doug Thorley Shorties. No errors, no problems. I have had the car into the dealer to have the tranny redone with the 2nd gear crunch, and no problem, no void warranty. But I have heard of some pretty dick dealers. I called 3 dealers and they all said it would not void a warranty here in Canada.

Good boy! Do it. The CEL isn't a big deal. And if it 's really bugging you just drive 36 37MPH and the speedo needle will cover it right up. DO it.

If you're going for a sound like scrming's you'd better stick with the shorties.
I've got MRT V-2 with OBX and it's LOUD, REAL LOUD!

Maybe when I was 18 I'd be cool with it.
It's not really any more drone than with just the MRT V-2 but when you get on the gas it is just like BLAT!
The loudest street car I've heard in a long time or maybe ever, no kidding!

I can vouch for the CEL with the JBA shorties (Installed correctly with no leaks!). I do have the SLP Loud Mouth II exhaust. The set up was fine until I put the CAI on. Now I have the CEL is on all the time. I went with the shorties to avoid the CEL, now I wish I just went with long tubes since it pulled the CEL anyway.

HMM yeah I thought that was the whole reason to go with shorties. You do get some gains but if you have to tune anyway might as well get LT's. I guess emissions in some states play a role too, but I also thougth shorties were emissions friendly, but if a cel is going off I wonder if that holds true as well.

I would be curious if anyone with DT shorties has an issue, I did here about JBA, but I thought that was due to leaks due to design and could be solved with adjustments in installation. Oh well interesting anyway
