Well not red, you have to have red tail lights and brake lights and rear side marker lights....other than that it's a no no...

If they are actually white in color, and not cool blue, and you like them, keep them. Put a blank piece of white paper in the owners manual in the glove box, you get pulled over, pull the paper, put it under the lights over the plate, show the officer they are white, and it is TX fault for making a blue plate, all you where trying to do was make it more visible within the law.

This guy gets it...

but hes also right and wrong...the argument might stand if this was a factory setting, but it is not. I don't see a judge caring all too much about you getting a ticket for an aftermarket part when the factory bulbs illuminated just fine. We buy these LED bulbs because they look cool..but they all seem to have a blue hue to them. Add that to the tag, and this is what we get.

TX screwed up by making a blue license plate and subsequently it appears the lights are blue. It makes the cops look bad, and it annoys the citizens who get stopped... I am not denying it is cheesy to issue a citation for it, which is mostly likely why most members on this site aren't getting one. However, it is a good probable cause stop.

However, the statute (in most states, I assume TX is similar) reads if you can see a BLUE, RED, or GREEN (yes, green is illegal here) illumination from more than 25 feet from the exterior of a vehicle it is illegal.

That light my very well be white, but the circumstances with the plate make that light blue from a distance.

You are the third or fourth person on here to post this about TX plates. You will most likely continue to be stopped...

lol, yea I think he didn't finished his sentence there....

It is illegal to have BLUE or GREEN anywhere on your vehicle in Florida. It is illegal to have white behind the A-pillar and it is illegal to have RED in front of the C-pillar.

you should keep a piece of white paper or black...and next time this happens don't be an a-hole about it, but place it over the plate to show the officer its pure white. if then he still says it blue i would just change them back to stock.

The white lights are mandated to be installed into the vehicle allowing them to face back towards the vehicle and illuminate the license plate. IF they are facing out towards traffic coming towards your vehicle.... they are illegal under the provision that no white lamps will be placed on your vehicle behind the A pillar. Same applies with Red... no red in front of the B/C pillar.
Ok, this "outward" thing here... If YOU can replace the bulbs in the STOCK housing and get it to face "outward" I would like to see this! And if you say you can, I call

And this one... Mine are white, no blue in them at all... (AAC white LED plate replacement bulbs) try again. You have got to be an LEO with these comments. Are you going to try to tell me that my solid white grille light is illegal as well? (It's not, white is 50 state legal, I've checked.)

It's the plate, and that's it. Being an LEO doesn't mean your perception of something is LAW. The lights are white, the plate is blue. That's all that needed to be said.

Oh, and I'll avoid Florida until you're retired if this is how you think as an LEO... have a nice day!

You know, it strikes me as kind of funny, in a sad way, that we've come this far as a society, where government regulates our lives so much that we argue the points of license plate lights, and resign ourselves to the idea that this is a proper function of government, without ever asking the real question: How did we become enslaved to our government to the degree that we are committing a crime if the color of light illuminating our plates doesn't suit a police officers fancy, as he interprets a law that should have never been written in the first place?

Can you see my license plate clearly? Then stop bothering me big brother.

I would say that from a criminal's perspective, the affluent folks are generally softer and easier to manage than those of us who live in the "not-affluent" neighborhoods. But they are also FAR more likely to call the cops. They also pay a good chunk of change in taxes, etc and money talks.

Thoughts?

Different neighborhoods are not populated with people who have an equal propensity to commit crimes. That's a fact.

Why? You can debate that all you want. Are people more likely to commit crimes because they're poor, or are people poor because of their lack of self control which manifests itself in many ways, including criminal behavior.

However, either one doesn't change the fact that some people are far less likely to commit crimes than other people. Those people tend to live in the same types of neighborhoods.

So, there is less crime in those neighborhoods and the cops are less "busy" as a result, which has nothing to do with the efficiency of the police.

PULLED OVER

I have pulled over 6 times and only one time has been for speeding.I even got stopped for having a air freshner hanging from my rearview mirror My co-workers constantly laugh at me because I drive the speed limit. They can go 30mph over because the cop isn't waiting for them but everytime I have my camaro on the road latley I have been getting followed or see every city, sheriff and statie on the road?? Of course they are going to pull the camaro over first they think you have lots of money which I don't but its just a assumption they are thinking dollar signs.
