Does MRT manufacture the mufflers?

I'm wondering does MRT manufacture their own mufflers or are they using some existing mufflers for their V1 and V2 axle backs?

I ask because I'd think if I could get my hands on the actual mufflers, I could pick my own tips and have someone local do a semi-custom job that would come out cheaper.

Any time I can save a few bucks, I'm always lookin, ya know? I purchased all my own parts for my old car and had someone build me a cat back for ~400 that sounded amazing.

The MRT 1.0's are someone else’s mufflers.

The MRT 2.0's I was told are manufactured for MRT specifically.

They sell exhausts on their website without the tips. I think its like $30 cheaper then the full setup versions.

I guess by my post it looks like I'm just looking for different tips, but I mean if it is some readily available muffler then I figure I could put together basically the same thing on my own and save a few bones.

If the above posts are true then looks like I'll just be still saving up for the MRT V2. It really is a pretty decent value, but want to look into it.

This is a good idea for DIY'ers looking to save some cash. Since the resonators are available, I assume you plan to purchase them and put something together? You should post your progress and what else you pick to complete your system (tips, etc).

I thought about doing it or having a local shop do it but once you add the money up there isn't much of a price difference then just getting one from MRT. If you know someone that does exhaust fab cheap like a buddy then it might be cheaper for you. I don't know anyone that will do it cheap so I am waiting a few months to get the MRT V1. atleast getting it fabricated from MRT correctly; to me that is worth the 100 or so bucks I might have saved. will be done in due time.

The other thing is MRT uses 304 stainless steel, including the hangers! You typically will not find 304 stainless steel at your local shop... most likely if they stainless it will be 409...
