Workbench Sheet Question

I have a question about the workbench sheet ( I hope that is what it is called) that I received from the dealership when I ordered. This is the document that Has my order number, name, address, pricing, options, etc. About halfway down the page underneath Model Information there is a line that says
Priority: 1
Does this mean that I am first on my dealerships list? TIA!

The priority number is a dealer specific number. If you have priority one, that generally means that you are that dealer's first order.

Yep. At this point though, that's somewhat hard to believe - first pre-order at that dealer five months after the ordering began? And remember, he is free to juggle priorities between orders as he pleases. Do you know how many total guide number, pre-order, cars he is allowed by GM?

He told me back in Feb when I ordered that he did not know how many he was getting, that is he did not say anything about how many he was getting. He did say that sold orders would be filled before he placed any on the showroom floor.

It is a small-town dealer. I believe he said he had 2 other orders when I placed my order. I may have been shuffled to number one for some reason. Thanks for the info!

Priority 1 is the default on every SRE Sold Order. If the dealer has five sold orders and all are priority 1, then they would get placed by the earliest date.

This can be modified any time by the dealer.

Some dealers are choosing to keep all sold orders as priority 1, and keeping track of priority order by themselves...

My dealer changed my priority to #2, does that mean I'll be the second car ordered from their allocation?

Priority is an arbitrary number set by the dealer. GM will pull an order in for production that has no constraints and is acceptable to the factory when that dealer is allowed to select an order to be built. All of the orders could be set to priority #1 and they would get pulled when the dealer and production agree on pulling it. They do not "have to" be pulled in any particular order. Cars will not be "first ordered, first built". This might not seem "fair" but that is the way it is. :(

Other factors apply - If the factory has a production slot available for your dealer and the slot is for a V6 and you ordered a V8, you will not get pulled even if you ordered first.

-Mark.
