If I had it to do over
Were I to start over, I think I would save my pennies and stroke my motor (sounds sexy, eh?) first. For the mods you are looking at, you could add a couple grand and have a forged 418, 416, or something similar that would get you above your goal. Then it is just a matter of time before you save the cabbage to go stratospheric with you horse power. I know it would be hard doing it this way, but, looking back, this is the way I would go if I had it to do over again. Any way you go, though, I guarantee once you spend a couple of months at any hp level, whether it is 475, 600, or higher, it will seem slow and never be enough

The question you need to ask yourself is, what kind of car do you want. A HUGE cam + all the boltons will get you 475+whp but it won't have nice manners on the street. Of course nice manners are subjective to what you're use to. If this is your daily driver, your best bet would be a SC.

Crank or rear wheel horsepower? A set of headers, full exhaust, CAI, and a good tune would get you 475+ crank horsepower. 475 rear wheel would require a cam.

To the OP my mods are in my sig and I have $5,250.00 invested in my car right now and I am at 480/453 to the wheels right now!! The only reason I'm not at sitting at $4700.00 total was bc I was a dummy and spent 300 on a diablosport tuner, and $250.00 on a shitty tune from a local shop to turn off my CEL after taking the cats!! I agree with Squintz, who really does pay for labor to install bolt ons? I did everything to my car at home in the garage but the cam bc I was deployed and wanted something to play with when I got home on leave!! but even that was only 650, plus 400 for quite a few hours of dyno tuning and well it was worth it! I plan on doing the ported heads soon and you can get a set for 1400 from TSP! i could have gotten a blower and might have made more power with it, but I like siting at the corner with my car shaking and making a scary sound when take off and seeing the look on my wife's face when I hit it from 1st all the way to 3rd without letting off!! Not to mention cam's are just cool!!

I'm expecting about 480 rwhp/450 rwtq with these parts used TSP 231/236 cam/sprocket $100.00 PRC springs $286.08 ASP pulley $204.00 1 7/8" headers complete 3" exhaust $750.00 Volant CAI $137.71 Tuning $300 Total: $1,777.79 Obviously I have other parts on my car, but there are the only ones that affect rwhp. Also i put $300 for tuning because that is the only thing I don't personally do. It doesn't really cost me $300 cause my buddy is doing it, but I think that is what he charges regular folks.

Notice, I didnt leave that to just a supercharger. There are many combinations to get what you want as well as different price levels. To the OP: Its already been beaten to death but I will say it again. With the current available boltons you would definately be hard pressed to see 475RWHP unless you find a Dyno that will lie to you. Bolton meaning if engine oil touches it, or you have to remove the valve covers or timing cover to install it, its not a "Bolt on". It also does not include Turbo/Blower/Nitrous even though these can be "Bolted on". |

Well I did do most of the work in my garage and it saved me quite a bit I'll agree! As far as street manners is concerned will it is in the eye of the beholder!! Squintz knows me pretty well and I would like to think that all of the cars I've driven had good street manners but I again am a car nut!! I voided the factory warranty on this car and the 08 roush I traded in for it with in the first 45-90 days of owning them!! My car is a daily driver the only time I don't drive it to work is when deployed or if my wife wants to enjoy it for a day!! If she can race other cars on the street then I think my cam and bolt ons make it pretty streetable!! JS!!

Nitrous is a bolt-on. Easily get you to 475rwhp with the other usual bolt-ons in combination.

Yes it can be bolted on, however so can a blower!! I would put it in the power adder column before I put it in the bolt on column!! I should know, I'm a nitrous junkie!!
