This is what our tax dollars pay for. Road building companies doing horrible substandard work and then overcharging the State and Federal governments.

Makes me sick to see this kind of thing. Might as well buy some astro-turf.

Oh yeah..The Zl1 bolted with the owner of the road construction company that built this highway. Pretty embarrassing....

Not to take any fun out of the original post, looks by the pics this was a recent overlay.
Contractor did not do something right or this would probably would not have happened.
About the only thing they do when they overlay on top of the old asphalt is either what they call penetration (small pea like gravel) and or they put a layer of what they call tack (think tar and oil) down prior to the 2-3 inches of asphalt overlay, then do the overlay. They do it this way all the time and no reason for it not to stick to the old asphalt pavement. Also look into the field. There has been some high wind or small tornado that did this damage. Either way, the new overlay did not bond with the old. A tornado and itself or high wind would not have done this damage if the road had been repaired properly when they did the overlay.

Made me laugh. Was thinking this could be a great opening scene for a ZL1 commercial. Police and repair on the sight commenting that this must
have been that red ZL1 again tearing up the pavement. Then flash showing a red ZL1 with a big grin and the logo "Chevy Runs Deep" yeah
into the pavement.

That's awesome. I hope you guys don't mind, but I borrowed the OP's radical pic and fiascoes1's response & reposted to the "Some Say" Top Gear thread.

I agree Z4me, some version of this would make an terrific commercial.

Imagine looking down the left lane of a pristine road from squirrel's eye view and hearing the approaching growl of ZL1 with supercharger whining. The camera is backing up, but the ZL1 closes in to an extreme close up with the yellow lines blurring past at great speed. Then the camera pulls to the side and you get a profile shot of ZL1 passing under full acceleration.

Then when the Camaro-Beast zooms away the camera pulls up into a bird's eye view and you see that the pavement is ripped to shreds and the announcer says, "ZL1... tearing up the road since 1969."
