From my understanding, aside from the engine, and the brakes, the V6, and V8 Camaros are the same. If this is true then that means I should be able to put the v8 cat back exhaust on a v6 engine. I believe I read somewhere here about someone trying to do this with the stock exhaust. My question is, if this can be done with the stock exhaust, can I put a Borla ATAK Cat-Back on a V6? After all, the under body should be the same so mounting it shouldn't be a problem.

Are you saying aside from wielding the cat and a few clamps, I should be able to fit the Borla exhaust on?

If you get the full catback, it will bolt right up. The V6 is 2.5" at the midpipe connection point, just like the V8.

You can do that, but there's not much point. The L99 exhaust still weighs a ton, and the LS3 exhaust is raspy on the V6 according to what I've heard. If you get one free, sure go ahead and do it if you want that extra 1/4" all the way back.

One of the advantages of getting rid of the stock exhaust is the weight reduction, stock exhaust is VERY heavy! Get something aftermarket, SS exhaust is too heavy...

This. You'd need graduating connection pipes...

Sorry but that is incorrect...V6 is 2.5" all the way to the front of the resonators I do believe...for sure to the H pipe.
I should know this answer and I'm wanting to say that yes it will bolt right up, hanging points and all, but I can't say that 100% for sure....so hopefully someone smarter than I can chime in here. Not sure how the Borla Atak would sound on the V6....but if you try it out be sure and let us know the results!

you can, but if you are going to spend money on a cat back why not get one for the v6. A v8 cat back won't make a v6 sound like a v8 so maybe I am missing something here. I would go Solo on a Cat back if I was spending the money.

I know I will never get it to sound like a v8 but im sure I can get close. or at least keep it from sounding like a ricer like all the others I've seen. Also I would most likly be the one of the few if not the only one with it on a v6.

Have you checked out the MRT 2.0 axel-back? That system paired with headers and a good CAI is the best sounding muscle tone I've heard so far for a V6. I even switched from my Flowmaster AT that I initially had on. Also, I've heard the Borla on an RS in person and honestly, I was not a huge fan. Good luck!

Just spend the money on a nice cat-back designed especially for the V6. The Solo with the J-pipes is the best IMHO. |
