Weird on their 'vette as you approached the car it would automatically unlock the doors and light up the dash and interior lights, by "on" I did not mean it started the car but like you turned the key to the on position (in a car that uses keys), still had to push the button to start. It also recognized who's sets of keys it was and when they got inside it was programmed to say "Hello (Name) in the radio display. Maybe a programmable feature you can change the configuration of.

Also the 'vettes have no key hole in the door(s), if the battery goes dead you have to unlock the hatch by the keyhole just above the license plate and then reach way in and pull a release to get the door open.
Remember once at a Camaro club meet, a member and his wife show up in a new vette. After the meeting when shooting the bull he walks away from the car and sets something down (his keys), walks back to the car looks inside. Walks back over picks them up and goes way across the shop and sets them down, goes back to the car looks inside with this confused look on his face. His wife asked him what was wrong. He said "the car is still on, it won't shut off????" She then says "Well my purse is inside with my keys in it, is that why?" He literally does the palm to the forehead thing.

So we have some 'vette owners here, what do you do if you take it to a car show? Can you disable this feature? Do you have to worry about your battery draining?

If I did have a new Camaro, sure would be a shame to not use that cool switchblade key.
Corvette car shows can be a fiasco with all the passive key and dead battery issues.

I went to a show once where Chevy had several new Vettes on display with the doors unlocked. I sat in one, pushed the button - and it started.

The event staff then went into full tizzy trying to figure out why that happened. Keys must have been somewhere nearby.

Give me a traditional key, a non passive remote key fob and I'm happy. All the problems that I had with my last C6 and that rediculous system - never again no thanks. Way too overcomplicated and riddled with problems.

It might have the passive feature turned off in the personalization. That's the way I kept my last vette. It kept locking/unlocking/draining the battery from me walking around the house/attached garage. So I turned that off.

Well, since we bought hers used, it may have already been off. OR, ot may be on and we don't know it.

She never takes the key out of her purse. The car locks when she walks away from it and unlocks when she touches the door handle.

That is pretty much what I had imagined, seems to me to be more trouble than it's worth. KISS philosophy ya' know. Thanks Russell!

Sounds like the typical American Lazy ass wants everything done for him so he don't have to lift a finger. It's pretty sad when you don't even want to take the key out of your pocket put in the ignition switch and turn it any more.. geesh what is this world coming to...

I see that the new Focus can parallel park by itself. Maybe we should ask for that, too.

My thought.... I drive a sexy pony car. I like the feeling of turning the key and here it rumble. Push button is a jet airplane feature or an I'm to lazy to use a key.... I hate the push button

From what I understand about their system you still have to operate the gas and brake. Not really an automatic parking system. Anyway I think I may have had to parallel park maybe 3 times in the last 5 years...
