There is a thread on this in the off topic forum already btw.
The Camaro would have "been" even without him, it takes more than 1 man to resurrect a car from the past. Don't give HIM all the credit.

It also takes more than one man to cause a company to fail. Don't give HIM all the blame. I don't understand why you're thrilled he's out of his job.

Fine, but he's a scapegoat if this article is accurate. Let's not forget that people all of a sudden stopped buying cars at about a 40 % clip. Not Wagners fault.

Yea lets be serious when the credit gets doled out Bob Lutz needs to be in the fore front. Besides this make logical sense if the company has to come out of this looking new and different to help change perceptions they can't come out with the same crew in charge. That would look like a new suit on the same baboon

You guys are crazy. This is good news.

The fact of the matter is, despite improving the cars, no one is buying them and GM is not profitable. Something has to change. They made better cars and still can't sell them, Ford isn't selling much either but they are doing OK financially....so what is the difference? What is the problem? Start axing away at the top until it changes. A fresh perspective is exactly what GM needs.

GM needs a change. This is good.

Oh boo hoo! Wagoner, a multi-millionaire, was fired!

Of course he was a scapegoat. But on that same defense, Wagoner makes decisions about people that make decisions about people that...you get the point. The decisions he makes affect everything. It's not his fault he was passed a company that people have little trust in, but he did very little to try and fix it.

Have you seen GM's commercials? Their truck commercials are Howie Long making fun of other people. "Let's make fun of the 'Man Step' because we can't use it!" "Let's make fun of other trucks for not having a V8!" And don't even get me started on trying to compare a Pontiac to a BMW...and having the nerve to say it's better because it's a little faster and gets 1 mpg better. People who buy BMW's would never consider a Pontiac.

Something has to change at GM. Wagoner is just the tip of the mountain, but the impending avalanche will change everything; hopefully for the better. GM may make good cars now, but they don't know how to market them and they definitely don't know how to shake the conception of them being unreliable for their lazy and uninspired workmanship in the past.

a new ceo isn't going to change the fact that government regulations hinder car companies...especially c.a.f.e...not to mention those uaw contracts were made when gm and ford were the only games in town thats hurting gm as well

i can't imagine what a new ceo will do to change any of that...

folks expect more hybrids....less camaros...and capping of executive pay

its like telling the detroit lions they are now going to have a lower salary cap than everybody else because they failed

Our government has run itself into far worse financial shape than any company ever could. If the federal government were a private business it would have went under decades ago. As businesses are closing, cutting back, and laying off employees, our federal government is growing at an alarming rate. Sorry to bring politics into it but it's scary. Please make my car fast...........

The gentleman has done AWESOME stuff for GM.

GREAT Cars..

Malibu as good as Accord...
Camaro of course..

And Cobalt.

GM cars get good milage and have low emissions. Not to mention the Friggin Volt.

What other company is better responding than GM?

It's political pandering to make bad guys of people that are good.

Mr Wagoner thank you for the great work you have done for GM and Chevrolet.

Not to mention the total revitalization of Cadillac since he took over.

Wagoner was responsible for hiring guys like Lutz who have revamped their product line, renegotiated their labour contracts, and improved quality/reliability. Huge positive changes have been made since he arrived. Ford doesn't need money because they secured lines of credit before the financial market imploded because they were in bad shape a few years ago, worse than GM or Chrysler.

The borrower is slave to the lender. That's just a truth whether you are talking about borrowing money for a car or money to make cars.
