The giver pays the gift tax and that is where the lifetime limit is applied, it is an extension of the inheritance (i.e. death) tax meant to keep the terminally ill from giving too much away tax free.

But the Camaro is not legally a gift, it is income and GM will give the winner a 1099. :(

You are right. He would have to treat it as taxable income. Remember that episode where Oprah gave everyone a new G6? They were all so excited until they saw their tax bill for that year. I'd still take the free car of course.

They are telling me that they can't paint the car the Bumblebee color because when they take parts off the car to paint they will void the warranty. Why do they have to do anything different than usual, just paint the car.

When I receive delivery of this Bumblebee I am going to sell it as much as it kills me but I am in a financial hardship and my mother needs help. Winning this car is a gift of God. I am working on getting the crew and cast members to sign the engine cover, Megan Fox, Spielberg and everyone else then it will be shipped back to Detroit and clear coated at the factory. Are there any takers on this car.

The warranty they are talking about is the perforation guarentee.....if you are painting a GM panel make sure you follow the guidelines in the service manual for repairing body panels.....thats all. You me an to say if you had a big fendeer bender , went to a reputable body shop and had it repaired but at the same time you put a difffferent color .....the warranty is void ? I don't think so. Call GM directly and ask, if they say that warranty will be void ask for the document reference and get a lawyer to comment (most lawyers offer 1/2 hr free), you will find out that someone is full of BS! Paint yopur car man. I had major repairs to my 2002 SS and had my buddy do it, he removed most of the front end bodywork, replaced 2 with aftermarket. When I asked GM about buyiing GM parts were to expensive they said my warranty will be void if I replace wiht aftermarket. When I asked them to clarify all they meant was GM will not warranty the aftermarket panels......thats it........GET YOUR BUMBLEBEE PAINT JOB DUDE!!
