i heard the 5.0 was close to an M3. I drove the 5.0, but have never driven a M3 so I personaly could not say yes or no on the subject. I'm not impressed by "way ahead" just my opinion.

The point I was trying to make was that even with the SRA, the Mustang handles better. It just seems that a lot of people on here feel that just because they have IRS, they out handle every other car on the road.
That doesn't mean that a SRA will always handle better than an IRS, or vice versa, the SRA just handles better in this comparison between the current Mustang and Camaro. |

![]() One thing I noticed when I drove a 5.0 was that the low end grunt just wasn't there. Punching it at 2,000-4,000RPM just didn't give me the desired wave of torque that I've come to expect from the LSx family, but when you wind it out the power comes on strong. |

I just have one thing to say...The Camaro blows away the Mustang and Challanger in the looks dept
..I could really care less if either one of those cars flies by me at a redlight..They still won't look cooler then a Camaro..IMHO..That is all

The reason the Camaro feels like it handles better is because it does, its just heavier. |

Strange. We test drove a Camaro SS vs a Mustang GT and we thought just about the opposite on every detail. Mustang was noticeably quicker. Brakes were better, rode nicer, handled better. The mustang seemed to have power everywhere while the camaro didn't come alive until ~3000rpm.
Strange. We landed up ordered a 2012 GT that should be here next week.

What? So a worse handling car equates to faster track times? Did you just make up a new definition for handling? I've owned both. There is a reason I am driving a Mustang today. |

I was fairly dissipointed with the 5.0's exhaust note. Not as much muscle in there as you'd think. The 4.6 sounded way better.

How often do you road race your car? How often do you push the mustang beyond the limits that a SS could handle in the twisties (do you have the skills to take either car to it's limit?), where do you spend 99% of your driving at? For me the slightly better handling of the 5.0 is not worth the punishment to comfort. Ford F!!!!!'d up on the mustang they should have improved on the 2004 Cobra IRS. I read that Ford has acknowledged this and therefore will offer IRS on future mustangs. After driving several 5.0s before purchasing the SS I agree with the OP.

Your preaching to the choir with wbt. He's here to rescue all threads from 5.0 doom and gloom. Go figure on a Camaro site to boot.
