#PIP4738: Chirp Click Tick Noise From Under The
Vehicle While Driving - (Nov 6, 2009)
Subject: Chirp, Click, Tick Noise From Under Vehicle While Driving
Models: 2010 Chevrolet Camaro
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this
PI.
Condition/Concern:
Customer may comment of a chirp, click or tick noise from under the vehicle while it is in
motion.
Recommendation/Instructions:
The click or tick noise may be caused by a loose label that is attached to the prop shaft, inspect
the label if it is found to be loose remove the label.
The Chirp noise may be caused by the propshaft center support bearing floating on the shaft. To
verify the noise is from the center support bearing, apply some spray lubricant on the center
support bearing and test drive the vehicle. If noise is reduced or eliminated, replace the prop
shaft with current SPO stock.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the
condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need
to be performed.
GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform
these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the
proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and knowhow
to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your
vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle
may benefit from the information.

Your noise is NOT a sticker label.

But the rest is possible. Mine is bad enough to move the shaft up and down with your hand. I gaurantee yours is too. You might want to get under it and verify that though.

But, yes, that seems to match your issue but I wouldn't describe it as a chirp. It's more like a clunk.

Let us know if the contact info you got from GM Support is helpful to you.

Propshaft and driveshaft are the same thing.

Yes

in Europe it is difficult to find information about the camaro. chevrolet here only sells small car models. They are more used to the small four-cylinder V8 that.

I have already cycled through the site and although it is true that you can find a lot of information and people to help us

We inform you that guarantee Americans imported vehicles in private is not valid in Europe. GM can not handle some of the costs.

Here is the response of GM Europe so plain in Europe if you buy an American car we are not covered under warranty.

I do not think it's normal, a default is a default even if the car is outside the country of origin.

Apparently the GM politque service is different in Europe. Here you buy your car abroad you'll get by.

I must say that I'm really disappointed in the provision of GM, a large group that refuses to deal with a broken piece especially the camaro will be sold here soon so the room should be available for exchange.

So you have to wait?

When will the Camaro be sold there regularly?

You imported the car yourself?

I have had my car to the dealer and handed them that chirp click bulletin. "Could not duplicate"

There is a chance that my erratic bird chirp noise is not this issue. But I am pretty certain it is...and will get worse enough that the dealer will have to do something

You can only hear mine if you roll down the drivers window a couple of inches and drive about 35 MPH...erratic chirp/plastic toy whistle sound..short in length and erratically spaced 1/2 sec to 3 sec apart

Does the chirp interval speed up and slow down with vehicle speed?

Yes..in a way...it only does it in a range of speed..like 25-45..after that it seems go away. I think the bearing is ok until 25...then starts slipping erratically then either quits or slips constantly. Just my opinion of whats going on.

I think I have another noise that may be related. M6 manual...pull it hard to say 5000...the moment you let off the torque to the driveshaft to shift, there is a little screech noise
