not only does it make the grinding noise, it also feels like when you are driving and let off the accelerater that the car slows down very quickly without even braking...like the rear end is dragging and not free.

I changed mine @ 1k miles. Full of metal from the breakin period. I don't care what the manual says, all oils need to be changed right away in a new car. IMHO

Good luck!

I did the fluid change / added the additive. Seems like the noise is still there. Do I need to do anything special to break it in after replacing it?

I had been hearing it as well. I don't think it is the differential. When I was backing up today & heard it, my left foot was up to the left of the break & I could feel a vibration thru the floor that matched the sound. I'm going to have my dealer look at it before I put her to bed for the winter.

The shop that did my suspension worked continued to try to work on this issue - they tried to add some more additive to the diff. No luck still. It seems even noisier now and makes the noise on every turn. Going to take it into the dealer Wednesday. I've never ever heard a diff make this much noise in my life. Almost seems like I need a whole new diff.

Thanks, but I'm beginning to think two different problems are being posted here. The noise I get sounds like metal on metal grind when backing up and turning to the right. The problem is duplicating it, it happens very randomly. For my car, it hasn't happened all summer and only seems to show itself when the weather is cooler. I've started a report of it at the dealer, and they say that's all they can do for now.

Post #99 was the answer for me, page 4 of this thread. No more 2-3 second grind when backing up and turning out of a driveway ever again!

Do you have the TSB for this?
