I need some advice. I have a great insurance company whos rates are VERY low and require a relatively clean driving record. I have no problem with this at all. They also said they NEED a representative to come and appraise my car to see if it's really worth that much money and to make sure I really have those mods on their.

So, I have a feeling my rates are going to go through the roof because they are making it seem like it's such a hasstle for them. It's a hasstle for me too, lol, and it makes me curious as to what the new rate will be monthly. My question(s) to you guys is, who has an insurance company that insures their modifications without much hasstle and for relatively cheap? Are there any insurance companies you recommend?

I hear StateFarm does NOT increase your rates for any mods you've done to the vehicle. I have no idea how true that is though. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Tommy my brotha from anotha motha, I used to be a office manager for an agency for Farmers Insurance for about 3 years so I know a thing or two about insurance For starters your rates will NOT increase that much, grant it every insurance company is different in rates but for the most part every 5k extra is like 10-15 bucks a month extra ! well at least thats how it was with Farmers, and the hassle is always going to be there anytime you ask to increase the amount an insurance company would have to pay in case of a total loss, its a business so they like to asess the value first hand before amending the declaration. Switching insurance companies really isnt going to help you Tommy, especially if you been with these guys for a while, you will loose that "persistancy discount" but anyways enough blabbling just call me if you got more questions

Sweet, thank Leo. I definitely appreciate it. I am just adding up the cost in my head and it looks like the total value of mods would be between $23K-25K when the car is done in a couple weeks. That would mean the cars including purchase price would be somewhere around $57K-60K possibly. If we just use the rough figures and go on the high side of $15-20 extra per month for every $5,000, that means I would spend an extra $75-100 per month for the increased coverage of the mods. OUCH. I guess you pay to play right, lol. I'm glad you're in the insurance biz because that gives me some rough figures to work off of.

Thanks a ton.

Anytime brotha, but ask your insurance company the exact rates because like I said thats just for Farmers insurance, I also would subcontract other insurance companies for clients who wouldnt get accepted by Farmers underwriters and they too only charged few extra bucks for mods done to cars, each insurance company is different, although california has "big brother" so to speak watching over all companies, they are still independant in how they run their business, because after all its a business and a damn good one too !! lol but I am out of that game now because I did not like the politics involved but dont even get me started on that now am I happy in my current position as a Logistics Coordinator much more relaxing atmosphere

Thanks Leo. Damn man, you can tell you know all the ins and outs of the insurance business! I love it, ha-ha. I'll get some of the other receipts today when I get home and I hope I can fax it to my insurance company tomorrow.

What do you do as a Logistics Coordinator?

haha yea I sure do, I remember when I used to sell Umbrella policies thats when your eyes just wouldnt believe the amount of zero's the check would come out because in insurance majority is paid by commision and umbrella policies usually covered a million dollars or more so imagine the commision on those !!!!!!!!!!!!! shit now I wish I would of stayed in the business just thinking about it lol ........ and in logistics I pretty much take care of managing all incoming and outgoing freight from our location to places from all over US in other words lots of data input and analyzing ... fun stuff i love my job

That would be great. I would definitely appreciate that. I'm curious as to what they say and if they can put it in writing that the mods are civered. I keep hearing StateFarm just says something along the line of "Just keep your receipts in case of a collision for proof". Thanks a ton

yesterday was a somber day. we had a moment of silence before my baseball game yesterday for a teammate who's sister died in one of the towers. it makes me think how I will never forget that morning waking up to the images... and even though I hold my personal opinion about that day I still strap on my extra 20 lbs of gear everyday and hope I find one of them sumbitches during my beat. Semper Fi to Luis and all those other jarheads out there and to those standing a post at our borders with a rifle back at home. OOH-RAH!!!!!!
