No need to be a smart ass you ass! Was just asking and obviously people tried it so I am not the only one. This is what forums are for so people can ask and learn.

Do you need an OnStar subscription for this functionality to work?

ok ok... how much does the onstar cost and what added benefit do i get besides emergency response (which is meaningless to me since i'm never the only one on the road)

Theres a place near my house that installs a package in your car so that your phone can unlock and start your car. But its pretty expensive.

oh and another way of getting it done....as long as you have your phone, I put the OnStar number in my phone.....if I have a problem, call them, they can unlock your car too. as long as you know your account number or the right info so they can verify its YOU.

This was a few years back but my wifes dad locked his keys in the car (on purpose) at the airport when we went away on a trip saying that he will call onstar when we get back and they will unlock. When we got back a week later he called and they could not unlock as they said the car has not moved in 48 hours and they could not open it then. Something about it timing out. At the time I did not have or care about onstar so i did not pay attention to all the details. I just wanted to get home.

Not sure if it still works the same but i wouldn't try it till I know for sure now.

Last I remember they were working on the On Star app functionality for our 2010s as well. I assume they can't do it?

Intended no offense. Just mind boggling.
