45th Anniversary deal I walked out what do you think?

45th anniversary 2LT with Auto, Sunroof and spare Sticker = $33145.00
dealer came in at $32000.00 (not bad). Offered me $20K for my 2010 1LT RS, Auto with < 4000 miles. I had a $1000 GM incentive and $800 GM card dollars. I said no.
He asked what I wanted . Told him $31500 for the car and $22000 for my trade. Came back and said best he could do was $20700 on my car but held firm on the new price. I thanked him for his time and left.
He said because of advertising fees and other charges that was as low as they could go and that to GM Certify my car to sell for $24000(!) that was the best they could do. I was trying to do it with no out of pocket and would have saved $1400 in tax. Did I do the right thing? What would you have done?

That sounds like a good deal to me..depends on how much you want it. First 32,000 for that car is a good price, not great but you would get $1800 off? Not sure what you really wanted, you can't expect to get that much for a 2010 1lt. So I think you did the wrong thing.

You have to be comfortable with the deal no matter what, you are the one paying the bills.

first off the blue book on your car is $24500 and invoice on their car is $30480!!! thats what you start with then go from there... that to me is a good deal for you and them!!! they are still making money on the 12 and if your car is clean they can make money on it too!!! but the most important thing is how you feel when you leave, if you feel happy with the deal you got thats all that matters!!!

Should have taken the deal. Your trade in drops 6-7k on average once you leave the lot, and im assuming you paid roughly 27k for your 1lt. Try carmax though on the trade in, they pay alot higher than dealers most times.

so i have been wondering about my deal, 45th 2LT standard. 30,904 with 1000 incentive. Salesman was not wheeling and dealing, that was pretty much it or nothing so i was a little nervous about it. Tried to figure out invoice, but kinda confused as to how to add 45th package and if you add RS package and what final invoice should be?? So by going with what alcal said, this wasn't bad?

I know When I was sitting with the salesman waiting for the appraisal he even looked it up. It came in at between 20 and 24K I wasn't expecting 24. I wanted to split the difference. Since I owe 19K I wanted the extra so I wouldn't have to pay out of pocket. I did get him up 700 though. He claimed after all of the advertising and other fees they couldn't go lower. I figured Invoice to be 31572 including DFC.

Interesting replies so far

If I were you I would try to sell your car yourself. I'm sure you could get what you want for it and even if you dropped your price down a little you would be fine. You can still go through the dealer to get tax break. I own a car lot and we do this all the time. The dealer makes it look like you traded your car in and your customer buys it for your price. Some dealers will do it and some will not. Good luck.

With the 45th package, you don't need to add the RS package in addition.

Just got a call from the sales manager they came up to 21500! No movement on price though. They tell me its $300 over invoice and they aren't really making any money on the car they just want to move it. (boo hoo). they claim that the invoice price I quoted (from the thread on this website) was not accurate.

Ball is in my court. I'll run some numbers and let them stew.

Go slow...they will come around - although you are only $500 off from where you wanted to be...not bad. Personally, my time is worth more than that to go to another dealer and haggle over $500 bucks if I really like the car they have.

I have another dealer in the mix although we have not talked numbers yet. He doesn't have the car he has 3 M6's though. Says he will get it.
Hopefully get to him tomorrow.
