Dallas and Charlotte

To the Texas and North Carolina folks, what the nice areas to live around those two cities?

Charlotte: you might consider anything in south-east Charlotte, such as Matthews or Indian trail. That is a nice area. anything off Sardis road is nice. I would only gravitate towards south-east Charlotte. Consider anything within a 3-mile perimeter of the intersection of sharon amity and providence road. (if in your price range).

In the Dallas area, I suggest these areas: south of 121, east of I-35E, west of I-75, and north of I-30E. the best affordable suberbs are Frisco, Plano, carrollton, richardson. if you dont mind driving far north, you could consider McKinney or anything west of Mckinney off of highway 380.

Dallas area I would recommend Rockwalll (just east of Dallas) or Frisco (north of Dallas)

Ragtop gave you good info for Charlotte. North of Charlotte off I-77 is nice, around Davidson, Cornelius Huntersville, but I would not want to commute into Charlotte daily from there

Don't forget Allen. That place is exploding in the last couple of years.

Definitely north of Dallas no matter what. NO to Garland, Mesquite, Duncanville. Yes to Plano, Frisco, Allen, Mckinney, Rockwall, Coppell, Flower Mound (certain parts).

Rockwall isn't north of Dallas though. Wylie is kind of though.

Look at a map, Rockwall is north of Dallas, albeit more east than north, but still north nonetheless.

Ahem.... FARK DALLAS!

Sorry, football allegiances are showing.

I've been to Fort Worth a few times (not Dallas Proper) it's quite nice.

All these suggestions are great, if you are working in those areas as well. Traffic can be a nightmare in the Ballantyne area during rush hour. And 77 is a total cluster F as well during those same times, when you travel to Huntersville and Cornelius areas. Even the areas around Sharon Amity and Providence are crazy. Again key to living in these spots is to actually having your work located there.

I live in South End, and work in the Tyvola Road Office Parks. Commute is an easy 15 mins through the city streets and there's lots of things to do around South End and Uptown is only a stone's throw away. I am 29, considering you are 28, maybe with no family, then Uptown and South End is perfect for you. The Rent isn't too bad and the Condos are actually pretty frikkin cheap.

Hope that helps.
